Is Walmart still selling the Colt 6920

The local Wally World here in sandpoint ID sold 11 colts in a day and a half. I asked when they would get more in and the guy just laughed. Said he could sell 3 or 4 a day No problem. Oh and all the shrubmasters and other low end ARs are gone to. 1095 for a colt is not a bad price.

my first bull elk in Oregon + pics

Freedom fighter, you are right on the money. The bull I killed in Idaho was heavier than this one and every place we hunted there was real steep. If it hadn't been for good pack mules I would have had to stay there and eat that elk, I couldn't have packed it out in a week.

my first bull elk in Oregon + pics

Thanks guys. Getting a nice bull on public land in my home state has been a dream of mine since I started hunting 21 years ago. I got a 6 point in 2005 in Idaho and that was awsome but paying 5K for a week of hunting kind of takes some of the fun out of it, atleast for me.

my first bull elk in Oregon + pics

I got this bull north of the Steens Mts in the southeast corner of Oregon. This is only the second bull I have ever gotten and he is my best by a few inches. My dad and I had just set up camp and gone out for a quick look around for sign and to do some glassing when I got a...

What is your preferred "ranch" rifle?

Bolt action 25-06 all weather. Easy to shoot and then down load so I don't have a round in the chamber in the truck. The AR and most semi autos are just more of a pain to fire one round then unload. I like the lever guns but they lack the range to deal with far off coyotes or the un lucky...

Garmin GPS suggestions: Dakota 20 vs Oregon 450t

Thats the same question I was asking myself. IMHO the Oregon 450t is the better buy. A few more features and IIRC holds more downloaded maps. I hate having to load and unload maps when I go from one side of the state to the other. Also I don't know how long the Dakota modles will be around...

    Bushnell 4200 vs. Zeiss Conquest

I have the 4200 4x16 on my 300wm and eye reliefe is no problem. My brother and I have 5 4200's between us and we swear by them. The short ish eye reliefe is a big PLUS on an AR, trust me. My AR wears a Leupold VX3 LR 4.5x14 that was more than twice the money of my 4200's and is NOT twice the...

Whats the most expensive gun you brought

Les Bear super varmint in .204 ruger, orderd it during my first deployment to Iraq, cost me $2,300 plus shipping. Thats about a months worth of combat pay for an E-4 combat engineer. That was in 2005 and I still have, love, and shoot the hell out of that rifle. Me and a Marine friend of mine...

Animals that are the cause of emotional strife when hunted.

Ferral Horse! For some stupid reason it's against the law (as far as I know) to sell a horse for slughter for any reason even dog food in Oregon. The amount of money the BLM throws away feeding pens full of Horses would put our school system back on track in a year. If I could get a...

    Coyote Caliber Considerations

I have shot them with all kinds of rounds from 22 up to 375 and I like my .204 if they are not real far away. (inside 200 or so) For all around coyote shooting I think my personal fav is the 25-06, it just stops them in their tracks as far out as I can hit them. The .204 is great in...

Ruger 77 MkII - what breaks in them?

As I recall the only thing I have heard about "breaking'' on the Ruger African is stock splits by the cross bolt. I looked for the article about it but can't find it. I have read Alot of good things about the ruger african, they seem to be very reliable. I own two M77's and both of them have...

    375 H&H Mag

I have shot a few boxes of the Federal 260 grain Acubonds through my CZ 550 375 HnH and IMHO they are very pleasent to shoot. I would go so far as to say they are "nicer" to shoot than 180 grain loads out of my M77 30-06. It is way less recoil than my 300wm, atleast if feels like less. I am...

drop in trigger for G35?? IPSC limited.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I will be adding the mag well and picking up some extended base plates. Yes, it does suck having to make one or some times two more reloads than the guys shooting against me. Befor I drop money on a trigger I think I will see how many glocks I can get my...

drop in trigger for G35?? IPSC limited.

I have been shooting a Glock 35 in IPSC Limited for a while now and I am thinking about upgrading to a better trigger. My current set up is pretty stock. Tungsten guide rod with 24# spring, some grip tape, stock sights, 3.5# connector and thats about it. The glock is a comp only gun that I...

Most irritating behaviors in the field..

#1 above all else! Do not point your rifle at me/see what I am doing through your scope. This did not work out well for others when I was in Iraq and will not work out well for you. Leave your phone at home or atleast in the truck. I go hunting so I don't have to talk to any one and don't...

The perfect DG rifle for the African sport hunter.

I couldn't agree with you more, I had a great time hunting deer and coyote with my 375 HnH. I grew up shooting scoped bolt action rifles so for me the CZ 550 375 was just like shooting any of my ruger bolt guns. I shot my CZ with the factory open "express" sights and it was fun and milk jug...

Armed security: what are you issued?

I worked as an armed security/alarm response guy for about a year in 1999/2000 in Oregon and packed my personal 92FS in personal owned gear. I carried two spare 15 round mags with fedral hydra shok 147 grain rounds. My friend who worked with me packed his ruger security six 357 with jhp's not...

I have never had any problems running SP 44 mag rounds through the rifle as far as deformation goes. The soft part of the "sp" isn't all that soft.

    .204 ruger thoughts

I like my .204. It is very very acurate (les baer super varmint) and yes you can spot your hits through the scope with ease. Ammo runs about 17 bucks a box for the hornaday 32 grain stuff. It is total destruction on sage rats and jack rabbits, makes short work of crows to. Not my first...
