Upland bird and Clays Gun survey

Ok then, I will change the qestion to recommendations for a clays gun only. I read alot of info today and think I and trying to a shotgun into a swiss army knife. I will go 12ga set up specifically for clays and use a lighter field gun in 20 if I ever decide to hunt.

    12 gauge HD ammo?

#1 buck this mixed mag stuff is senseless to me. do you load 4 hp's then 2 swc's then 2 fmj's in a pistol? the point is to use a round that will do the job and work within the confines and restrictions of your living space. if the motion alarms pick up a bad guy and the siren...

Upland bird and Clays Gun survey

I think I'm starting to get it. I like the idea of the mid bead and longer forcing cones which I guess would ease the transition of the shot from large chamber to smaller bore thus reducing perceived recoil. I can also see the advantage of longer barrels in sight radius and swing. As for...

Upland bird and Clays Gun survey

Just looked at the Onyx. What is the main difference between the White Onxy, Onyx, and Sporter? Can you shoot an O/U all day and not get beat to heck? That A400 was like shooting a BB gun. I'm not sensitive but have shot enough rifle to know that alot of shooting can wear on you...

Upland bird and Clays Gun survey

Hey All, I went to the club yesterday and was introduced to 5 stand. Oh Boy! I had a whole 20 seconds of tutoring and broke 3 of 4 with a Beretta A-400 Xplor. 2 guys had autos; the other 3 used O/U's I live in NH and would probably hunt upland birds but have no interest in water fowl...

Got my press today and don't know squat!

Thank you. Light strike in my mind would be my S&W Model 52 and a Model 15 that's about to get "slicked up" by the smith. Just don't want to have any problems. Found wolf for 20/1000 those any good? I will be buying primers 5K at a time and bullets 2-3 K at a time. Haven't gotten to...

Got my press today and don't know squat!

Please sugget a book that will answer most of my questions. So far I've been told to get the ABC's of Reloading. My main concern is cost. Is there a site where people post current reloading component deals? How much is average and how much is a good deal on primers? I'll be loading...

    Shood I shoot this S&W? It's a moral question.

Thanks Everyone! Thanks for all the advice and overwhelming response - this place is a wealth of information. I decided that since I couldn't make a decision I would let the aduience vote it out. After all, I'd have been wasting your time if I didn't take the advice I asked for. So, I...

OK, what is your 2010 gun purchase total?

I'm right at 10. Who said "I'm done"? The two most spoken lines in the gun shop are. (Chash register closes) "Ok, I have everything I want; I'm done!" (Turns to leave) "Um, can I just see that for a minute?" I'll be done when I'm dead. Then my wife will sell "all this junk" to one...

    Very Interesting S&W 629 and 686 - Value?? PIC

I don't know anything about them and neither doe the seller - he bought them from a co-worker. Has boxes for both but communication is slow so thats all I have. He says he was told they're called hardened cylinders. I tried all over the web including GB anGA but couldn't find anything. Who...

    Shood I shoot this S&W? It's a moral question.

Yeah!! Grunt, growl, beat on chest. You guys are getting me all fired up. Don't shame a gun by putting a muzzle on the muzzle (very clever there, eh?)! I'm gonna shoot the f-ing snot out of it!!! But...

    Very Interesting S&W 629 and 686 - Value?? PIC

I have a chance at the two guns in the title in great condition , no lock , non-fluted cylinders and both are 5". What are they worth in the box each and how come I can't find comparisons? Are they rare or special?

    Shood I shoot this S&W? It's a moral question.

Ok, you did better than I did. I looked for a long time and never found a piece in this condition for close to $300. How do you guys do it? Everytime I find a good price on a good gun, someone tells me they blew that price out of the water. I'll show my cards here - $400 did I make a bad...

    Shood I shoot this S&W? It's a moral question.

Should I shoot this S&W? It's a moral question. I recently bought my first blue revolver for what I'm told was a great deal. It's a 15-3 made in 1975 with original box, papers, cleaning kit, and screwdriver. It's beautiful and has not a blemish save a VERY faint turn ring. Is this a...

Which Rem 1100 for sporting clays?

I want to get into sporting clays with some trap on the side. Not sure about skeet. From my research it sounds like a Remington Model 1100 with a 28 inch barrel and an IC is a good newbie starter gun. So, I went on Gunbroker and found there are Trap, Skeet, Standard and a couple other...

    Need a huge favor.

Hey guys, I know this doesn't belong here so no need to scold me. Was trying to grab an ammo trade on Glock talk today and all the sudden I cant for the life of me send a PM. I emailed the admin but no reply yet and don't want to lose it. And yes I paid for a membership. If anyone is...

    Kel-Tec PF9 with winchester PDX1 not working

I like the Win Supreme Elite PDX1 and wanted to use it in my PF9 save the details but the 147 grain did not go so well. FTE and no slide lock. Cheap fed works fine so its the ammo. I thought I might order some of 124 grain stuff (same type). Anyone have any experience with this brand and...

    Remington 700 Tactical .308

The Bushnell 3200 Tactical 3X9X40 on a 20 M.O.A base works well on these. You can pick them up new for not much over 200 bucks. Unless you shoot competitively or at ranges past 600 yds, its a great value. BTW, that set up should give you enough elevation for a 1000 yds, just better glass...
