CZ 527 7.62x39 vs TC Contender 7-30 Waters

If you were intending to hand load for the Contender anyhow, the CZ likes hand loads too... This target from load testing last night with 123 gr. SST. At 100 yards, the little carbine can be as accurate as my CZ 550 in 6.5x55. The Lapua 7.62x39 FMJ I emptied to get my reloading brass only...

CZ 527 7.62x39 vs TC Contender 7-30 Waters

Another vote for the CZ- I have the 7.62x39 carbine and 3 other 527s. Easy to hump around in the woods, kills deer fine, digests hand loads rather warmer than the semi auto rifle oriented data in most manuals suggest. http://www.leverguns.com/articles/paco/762x39.htm

    Melting lead dust to cast?

As long as you don't add wet metal to already melted metal, should be no problem- The water will have evaporated long before the metal can melt. Just empty your smelting pot after each batch, let cool before loading each subsequent batch. Suggest starting each batch with a layer of sawdust...

    Varget load for Garand?

I have been loading 130 gr. Hornady #3020 (flat base spire point, probably intended as a varmint bullet) over 50 grains of Varget. Started with the lighter bullets because a bag of 500 130's came along with some other stuff I bought for cheap, will continue to use similar lighter bullets for...

Speed limit of lead - Horrible accuracy at 1200 FPS

Commercial cast bullets are usually a "one size fits some" affair, and your gun or loading might not be the one they fit. Also, the bullet alloys & bullet lubes used commercially are ones that pack and ship well, rather than the best for function. Go here & read a bit about how to make & use...

    Making blackpowder.

Something I might be able to add to this... Here's some information you may find useful or interesting. I suggest you actually buy the Von Maltitz and Sponenburgh books as these are living authors who deserve something for their efforts. If you're broke or don't care, you can download these...

FFFFg black powder usage, other than flintlock

4F would be good for black powder blanks. If you know any Civil War re-enactors, I have burned a LOT of fine grained powder similar to 4F in debris mortars for civil war battlefield effects. Much safer than some other things, doesn't require an HE license and it makes the "right color smoke"...

FAST ball powders intended for rimfire & powder actuated tools

I had been thinking of starting with a CZ-52 and a Mosin Nagant. Both strong, both cheap enough to not cry if they are damaged.

FAST ball powders intended for rimfire & powder actuated tools

Don't worry, I'm not turning it loose to anyone else either as a component or loaded. Either I find a personal use, or it goes to the burn pile. Yes, I know better than to burn a large pile of high NG double base.

    Rubber bullets

If you're casting bullets, you might find this thread at "cast boolits" on casting indoor practice bullets with your molds and a glue gun of interest- http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=17577

FAST ball powders intended for rimfire & powder actuated tools

rcmodel- Not to worry, I have no intention of giving these away. If I can't find a way to use these propellant samples personally, they will be destroyed.

FAST ball powders intended for rimfire & powder actuated tools

We use smokeless powders (and sometimes flash paper or flash cotton string, as well as powdered pyrocelluose) for some theatrical and special effects. In particualr, I've burned more green dot for indoor flame projector effects than I ever have or will in a shotgun- We buy it by the drum...
