How Many Carry a 1911 with FMJ Ammo?

.45 FMJ always. I have talked to a number of veterans who used them in wartime. There is no question about the stopping power of FMJs. I no longer waste my money on the expensive hollow points that younger shooters seem to be impressed with. Also, feeding may be questionable with some hollow points.

    Sighting the Rossi Ranch Hand

Just remember, I had to have a gunsmith work mine over. It was worth to me, though.

    Old Eyes and Old Guns

In my experience over the years with Commanders, they have never grouped as tight as the full size 1911.

    Sighting the Rossi Ranch Hand

At the range with the Ranch Hand I took the Ranch Hand, cal. .45 Colt, to the range for the second time. It now has over 250 rounds through it. I had two boxes of factory rounds (50/box), and a hundred rounds of reloads with me. The factory loads were Ultramax, and Precision. I was lucky to...

    Sighting the Rossi Ranch Hand

I have been viewing some Wanted Dead or Alive TV shows from season one. Steve McQueen really plays his role well, and of course there is the excitement of the Mare's Leg. I have noticed at least two versions of the Mare's Leg in these season one episodes. One version has a triangular shaped...

    Sighting the Rossi Ranch Hand

Finally got a Ranch Hand I started looking for a Rossi Ranch Hand over a year ago. A local gun shop had me on the top of the list when they could get one in. About three weeks ago they called me, and said they had one for me in .45 Colt, the cal. I wanted. I bought it. Came home and tried to...

Looking to get a Walther PPK

I would stay with the .32, since you are a fan. Bond's main point of view with small caliber seems to be, cap them in the knee or someplace where it would take the bad guy's mind off his objective, then take him out with a good judo chop.

Open to comments on Beretta 92 Series

Slide failures were due to using over powered 9mm rounds. With standard rounds the failures would probably have never happened. I believe Beretta beefed up the gun to minimize those failures, anyway. The Beretta 92 series are excellent weapons, if you like the 9mm cartridge.

    Savage Model 1907 .32acp

GCBurner, Thanks. Looking at the "It Banishes Fear" - Instruction Booklet, on the website you provided, it shows a picture on page 38 of the component parts and one of the parts it points out on the barrel is the Chamber Indicator, and it points out the extractor, showing them apparently as...

    Savage Model 1907 .32acp

I have a Savage Model 1907 .32acp pistol, which I compared to an old Savage instruction manual for the Model 1907. I found in the instructions information on a loaded chamber indicator. My pistol does not have the loaded chamber indicator. Also, the manual says the pistol can be carried with the...

Star Firestar .40 S&W does not eject the last fired case

Ray, I am glad I did not attempt the removal myself. I would have tried to drive the pin out from the top. Speaking of removal, is the ambidextrous safety easy to remove? Neil

Star Firestar .40 S&W does not eject the last fired case

Ray P, The Star has been fixed, and now works fine. If you still want to do the pics, it will serve to be helpful in the future for me and probably for other Star Firestar owners. I ran in to a gunsmith at a gun show, today. He relieved the the inside of the extractor where it touches the...

1911 Jamming - Need Helpful Opinions

If those are the only two mags you are having the jams with, I do not think the gun is the problem. I would not use those two magazines.

Star Firestar .40 S&W does not eject the last fired case

Ray P, Sorry for a slow reply, I have been away from my computer for a few days. Yes, it would be helpful if you can send pictures of the extractor removal process. Thanks! Neil

Star Firestar .40 S&W does not eject the last fired case

I have two mags, and the problem occurs with each one. The extractor tension seems quite strong. Could the extractor tension be too strong?
