She didn't want me to carry...

Sounds like it was a pretty great weekend! Converted a non-believer, or at least, someone uncomfortable, to someone that at least understands, and got to hang out with a great girl all weekend! Homerun! In her defense, most people are taught guns are bad, right from the start. So if she...

First grouse hunt of the season. (pics)

Yeah, it was some sort of lucky shot thats for sure! Ironically, it was my first time hunting (anything for that matter), and first time using that particular shotgun. I had touched off 2 shots earlier in the day, that were clean misses, and this 3rd shot was my final of the day. So at least...

First grouse hunt of the season. (pics)

My first ruffed grouse/partridge hunt was just this past Saturday as well. Got beginners luck and took 3 partridge down with one shot! I also made nuggets/tenders out of them. Just about like chicken as far as I could tell.

    Finally! My first antelope...

They pee on their own heads? Now thats self-degrading! Great story though, and congrats! I'd love to be a part of an antelope hunt some day.

dumb question - do soldiers go deaf?

Thats one of my favorite, simple pleasures in life. With all the technology of electronic hearing protection, I'm surprised that the military doesn't issue them. My cheap 45$ set can be turned up high enough that I can hear things more clearly than without them..and still provide protection...

Officer cleared by Phoenix police board in homeowner shooting

So the officer fired 6 shots at the homeowner before realizing 'oops'? And of course he was cleared....un-freaking-believable. If a civilian saw a silhouette of a man with a gun drawn on his property, sneaking around his house, and opened fire, only to have it be an officer, you know for sure...

    Lone Survivor

I'm not a book reader. That is to say, I have not read a single book since I have left highschool. I recently decided to pick this one up. Read it cover to cover in two days. What a story. This man, and his team are prime examples of what the word "Hero" stands for.

    Handgun hearing protection

Just a little update.... Got to take the Howard Leight Impact Sport earmuffs for a test drive today. Very Very impressed. Only downfall is that at high volume, there is a good amount of 'white noise' in the background. But most times I had the volume at low to medium volume and that was plenty...

postal money order but no gun????

I can't say for USPS, but a few years back I got scammed on ebay for about 650$. At first the fellow's local PD had no interest in helping. After being the "squeaky wheel", they decided to look into it. Turned out the guy had scammed people out of tens of thousands of dollars, and they brought...

    Do You Reload .40 S&W?

I reload for .40. For a Glock 23. Don't have an undersizing die. Use a Lee press. And I'm a new reloader this year, with .40 being the first caliber I ever loaded for. With all those things, I surely should have experienced a Kaboom, blown off both my hands, killed my dog, and crashed the...

    Electronic ear muffs?

I also just picked up a set of the Howard Leight Impact's.... for the price they can't be beat. 47$ shipped from Amazon.com

    Handgun hearing protection

Ironically, I stopped into a shop today, and they raved about the Howard Leight Sport Impacts. I almost bought them on the spot at 70$, but did some research, and found them on the internet for 47$ shipped. I decided to snag a pair. I've got plenty of the cheapy foam plugs, so I'll have to test...

Is it legal to sell reloaded ammunition?

Most people wont buy reloads since they don't know exactly what went into them, or if they are safe or not. Noone want's a blown up gun. That said, it's illegal to manufacture and sell reloads. On the flip side, if someone reloads 500 rounds for their firearm, shoots 450 of them, and then sells...

Imprint test 101 Asking the experts here

I'm from Maine... where we get a whole 3 1/2 days of summer per year. I dont carry a flashlight. My nether regions are so white, they glow in the dark. If the attacker doesn't double over with laughter, they'll surely be blinded!:what: All kidding aside, if it were me, perhaps switch to a...

Imprint test 101 Asking the experts here

I'm no pro either, but the red and yellow pouches are an attention grabber and kinda make me wonder what that is all about. Plus the extra long belt is kinda weird. I cant tell if in the picture on the far right if thats a stain, or if something quite heavy is in your left lowest pocket. At the...

    Handgun hearing protection

I understand that one. My invicible days were cut short when I tomahawked a streetbike into a cement pole, and got to spend my junior/senior summer of highschool teaching myself how to walk again. :( Dad has hearing loss as well, from being around the tower workin on radar equipment for the...

    Handgun hearing protection

Howdy everyone, What is a good, inexpensive pair of electronic muffs? I'm taking a class at the beginning of the month, and have already dropped a boatload of cash. My wallet is hurting, and I'm looking to pick up some cheap ears for the class. I figure that the electronic versions would be...

apartment building codes and risk of penetration

When I used to do electrical, we did many typical houses, apartment complex style buildings, as well as many nursing/rehab facilities. If the house had an attached garage, the firewall was doubled up 5/8 sheetrock. Same for the walls that separated the apartments. In most nursing homes, each...
