    I had another look and it's the original box. The serial number, model number, etc, are all printed, by hand, on a label on the outside edge of the box. Turns out the warranty information is printed on the inside of the bottom of the box, not the lid. Thanks for that link, Oro. I'll check it...

    Thanks for the info. I think I'll have a gunsmith look at it before I take it to the range. Knowing my brother-in-law, it's possible the gun has never been fired. It came with an old box of cartridges, and they were all there, intact.
