What country would you move to with you firearms?

I think that the US has the most permissive gun laws in the world. Now with that said, you can certainly get away with having and doing a lot more in, say, rural Pakistan, but almost all of the gun ownership and carrying that happens there is technically illegal. As far as me goes, my...

    Idaho: Permitless Carry Bill Introduced

I don't live in Idaho, but this motion has my complete support. Good luck to you guys, and I hope permitless/Constitutional carry becomes more popular. It's pretty exciting to think of how much things have changed. Concealed carry itself was taboo until the late eighties; now, it's the law in...

ACLU Brings Case in favour of Greencard Holder for CHL

My parents were both green card holders for quite some time before they became citizens. I support state recognition of the right of non-citizen residents to defend themselves.

    Bushmaster ACR = Failure?

I might be convinced to pay $1800 for an ACR, but it would have to be marginally better in terms of weight--and it would absolutely have to have the ability to swap calibers that Magpul promised us. The ability to have two rifles in one like that--an AK and an AR--was one of the biggest selling...

New Caliber - 300 AAC Blackout

That is a very fair point, sir. However, when I shoot Kalashnikovs, I don't bother using quality ammunition... then again, I'd imagine that users of .300 AAC BLACKOUT would use nothing other than quality ammunition. I rescind my point entirely--it looks like ammo will be reasonably priced...

New Caliber - 300 AAC Blackout

Thanks for answering my question. It seems to me that even the supersonic load is of utility to the average AR-15 user. Although its uses at longer ranges are minimal at best, we all know that there is a market for hard-hitting, close-in calibers. After all, AK47s sell very well in the US...

New Caliber - 300 AAC Blackout

Can anyone tell me (in layman's terms) what the supersonic .300 AAC Blackout performs like at longer ranges, such as 300 to 800 yards? How does it measure up against rounds commonly thought of as more suited to ranges like that, such as the trusty .308?

Merry Christmas to you all (merged threads)

Indeed. Today is the one day out of the year that people of all faiths, and indeed people of no faiths should take some time to remember a miracle that happened in the Middle East a very long time ago. Wishing you all a peaceful, safe, happy Christmas.

Gov't wants dealers to report sales of High-Powered rifles

@henschman I completely agree that no one has a responsibility to follow laws written up by the same branch of government that will be enforcing them. This is a blatant violation of the separation of powers.

What's your favorite cheap military service rifle clone/replica of any kind?

Favorite cheap military clone... has got to be the AK-47 series. They're not always pretty or precise, but they're powerful, reliable, and easy to operate and maintain. Apart from that, you can get them in calibers such as 5.56mm and even .30-06 if you look into those Saiga rifles.

Gov't wants dealers to report sales of High-Powered rifles

I believe it was the legendary Milton Friedman who said that there is nothing so permanent as a temporary government program. What's of particularly interest to me is that the ATF wants the White House to go around Congress to get this done...

Kerr county Sheriff refuses to sign form 4

I don't think I'd bother with trying to go up the chain of command... it might be best to just set up a trust.

What do you think of DPMS quality in general?

The take away message from this thread for me thus far seems to be that no one has anything to say about DPMS quality in general. Mr. Azizza seems to have no problem accepting that some of DPMS's pieces for hunting/varminteering are decent products... most of the harsher criticism seems to be...

    Bushmaster Plant Closing

If Bushmaster got its "stuff" together and started bringing stuff for the ACR to market, I think there would be plenty of work to go around. Then again, if the ACR was worth buying, a few other EBR makers would probably have to make cuts to stay competitive... Many sympathies to the laid...

How has the General Attitude Toward Muzzle Direction Changed over the Years?

When I shoot at public ranges, I do see people muzzle-sweeping things they really shouldn't, including myself. I'm not really the guy to correct other peoples' mistakes, but I often make an exception in this case, since I don't want to know that there's something I could have done to prevent a...

Odd experience with gunsmith today... or am I being a crybaby ?

It would have been one thing if you asked him for a detailed explanation of precisely how he did what he did, or for instructions for you to do the same. But it seems to me that you simply wanted to know what he did--and since your property was involved, this is a perfectly reasonable query...

What Evil Black Rifle Do You Prefer?

AR-15, just because it's the closest thing there is to a do-all gun. Think about it--in minutes, you can go from a close-in hard hitter like the .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf to something that can reach out and touch a target at 600 yards, like the 6.5mm Grendel. Amazing for something designed...

Is your state ok hunting with a silencer?

I have a friend in NJ... according to him, not only are suppressors highly illegal, even under the NFA route, but hunting with a rifle in general is also illegal.

where can i find a hk ump 45 for sale

It's a whole new can of worms to convert it to full auto, however. And then, you'd probably have to register the USC itself as an SBR if you want the short barrel, in addition to getting the legal full auto parts. At least, that's what I think... I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will...
