I don't want a Sig P365. Tell me why I'm wrong or offer options.

Agree, for ease of racking the slide an EZ or the double stack version, the Equalizer.

Controversial Question! Good Shooter vs. Bad Shooter

I understand your point but i believe you are using the wrong example. Slapping through a 2lb trigger on a 1911 means you hit the trigger stop with the force of the slap. That would/could disturb the muzzle and effect the shot. Grip in this case is more important than trigger control. Rob...

    9mm 1911 ,who would want one ?

People will say "limp wristing" but it's really not so much a problem at the wrist as it is at the elbow. If the gun stays in place under recoil, it can have muzzle rise and function. If the gun moves to the rear it takes away from the energy of the slide movement and can short cycle...

    9mm 1911 ,who would want one ?

I have one, it's a great shooter. It's very lightweight and has mild recoil. Pictures do not convert the reality of how much smaller and lighter it is than a "real" 1911. But boy howdy did the get costly.

    Night Sights

I've been using them for so long that most of them are dead. No joke. Lately I favor a FO front. If the platform also supports an optic and/or light, so much the better.

Controversial Question! Good Shooter vs. Bad Shooter

That's only if the gun is consistently off the same way every time. As in it shoots the inches left, they could aim three inches right. But if that was true the gun would shoot good consistent groups. It's when the impacts are spread like a bad group even the best shooter will shoot bad...

Controversial Question! Good Shooter vs. Bad Shooter

A better gun doesn't make you a better shooter but it makes your shots better. Give a novice a top notch gun and you will see how well they can shoot. They will be better with that gun than with average gun. As the quality of the gun goes lower so will their accuracy. Give a top shooter...

My condolences. May the good times past help ease the pain of loss.

Tell me about the AMT .380 DAO

I've had one since the late 90's. I don't think it's had 200 rounds put through it. It worked fine with hydrashoks and ball ammo. Not as bad to shoot as you'd guess but heavy for its size and has been replaced by other solutions.

    Old hands

Aside from the typical advice of reducing caliber, revolvers and light racking semiautomatics, you should also consider a laser. That will let you shoot accurately without forcing you into a shooting position that is now mechanically difficult for you. We had a older gentleman customer that...

Home Defense Firearm For A Woman

Yep... Most people, not just older people that are not a firearms enthusiast just want something loaded and ready go in the proverbial night stand drawer. They want to be able to pick it up and shoot it. Another answer to the slide racking issue is to use the rear sight against a table...

A .22 handgun for home self defense?

How about one of the tip up barrel .25 autos from Beretta and I think Taurus made one. No need to rack the slide, centerfire instead of rimfire.

    365 vs Hellcat.

I've got a Hellcat. Found it difficult to shoot well until I had a PRP trigger kit installed. I really like the sights on it, blacked out u- notch rear and bright outlined night sight out front. Very easy to pick up and get on target. I added a red dot, Sig (ironically) Romeo Zero which...

Guns you thought you’d like but didn’t…

Walther PPK. Wouldn't feed HP's. Left a nasty set of railroad tracks on my hand. Any 1911 without beaver tail grip safety. Similar to the above just a dimensionally smaller wound. Bolt or lever guns in most anything besides .22. Got tired of taking a beating a long time ago.

Which CC auto 9MM and why?

The trigger kit from Powder River Precision makes a big difference. I really disliked my Hellcat before the PRP trigger kit. I just measured the weight tonight and it is 3.9 - 4.6 lbs depending on where you measure on the trigger face. Factory felt like 7 lbs. Hogue makes a good slip on grip...

A .22 handgun for home self defense?

I between .22 and 380? You might look at 22 magnum. It does get higher velocity than .22lr even in pistols and modern hollow points are available (Gold Dot for example).

A .22 handgun for home self defense?

I was part of a group that had a range session where we got familiar with all types of crappy guns. The really low dollar stuff. As I was loading up a tiny no name .22lr auto pistol with pink pearl plastic grips a friend jokingly asked what could you do with that in a fight? The look on his...

    Tisas B9 Duty 9MM

I have a Bantam Carry 9, I get that same malfunction with a particular ammo, Browning 124 fmj (it's really a trn). I've only put 500 rounds through it so far and the only thing it has not malfunctioned with is 115gr rn. I've tried an assortment of 115, Fiochi, Rem G&W, Blazer. 147gr tends to...

Guns you love, but thought you’d hate

NAA Mini 22lr/22magnum. I used to just laugh at the thought of somebody buying one, let alone carrying it. The stiff trigger and tiny size make it a challenge to shoot and the long and tedious reload force you to slow down. The cylinder also gets too hot handle unless you slow down. First...

New handgun names sometimes make me wonder…

Agree it was earlier, however 1999 was the only date i could source with a quick google.
