The civilian PDW and my Sig MPX Copperhead

Sounds like you got a screaming deal and came out with the best option for a PDW. I'm jealous, that's a fine looking set up.

    Would you Colt 1917?

I tried moonclips and ditched them fast. I scrounged up 45 Auto Rim brass and enjoy enjoy the loading/unloading process more for shooting in the backyard. If that was my service weapon, though, I would quickly see the value in moon and halfmoon clips.

Walked into a Gun Shop Friday and saw this... AUG Clone MSAR

I have a MSAR flat top that I bought about 10 years ago off someone who worked at Wolff Springs. The rifle has been 100% reliable, but I believe he said he installed all their kits into it. For well less than $1,000 I got the rifle and about 20 AUG mags for it. It's fun, it's different, I...

    Too many Guns?

If a dealer said that to me I would likely never return.

    Aimpoint pro

Dollar spent to optic gained, the ACO is the way to go. My personal opinion is the things you gain with the PRO are nice to haves but not need to haves. I would argue the OP should dip his toes into the red dot world with the exceptionally affordable ACO, which he may never need to upgrade...

    Aimpoint pro

From the website: PRO: 2 MOA dot size 30,000 hours (over 3 years) of constant operation 4 night vision compatible settings and 6 daylight settings Weight 7.8 oz / 220 g (sight only) Submersible to 150 feet (45 meters) Front lens opening is threaded for addition of killFlash® anti-reflective...

    Aimpoint pro

https://aimpoint.us/aimpoint-carbine-optic-aco-red-dot-reflex-sight-with-mount-2-moa-200174/ This is a pretty darn affordable option for a real Aimpoint. Granted $350 is a lot of money, but this is arguably better than any Sig Romeo or Holosun. Caveat, I have a couple Sig Romeos as filler...

    Aimpoint pro

If he gets a cheap specimen that doesn't hold zero he may not fully get to understand how they work either.

    Aimpoint pro

DustGmt gave you a pretty good run down. The very first versions of these that came out didn't have clear glass to look through, believe it or not. Like was mentioned earlier, these are designed to be fired with both eyes open for quick target acquisition and precise fire. Zero the dot and...

    Aimpoint pro

The Aimpoint Pro will work fine out of the box with an A2 front sight on your rifle. Once you zero the parallax free sight you won't even see the front sight post. Remember that the Aimpoint is a single focal plane sight, don't try to "lollipop" the front sight post with it or you will negate...

Ian McCollum's Newest Book "Small Arms of WWII" is shipping

I got my copy in the mail last week. It sits on my desk beckoning to me... urging me to ignore other requirements that are taking my time and spend a just a few moments turning the glossy pages. I'm excited to add his book to my library. One can never have too many high quality reference...

PSA: Don't try to hide bullets.

I wonder if this was placed loose in his baggage, instead of in the thermos of coffee, would it have been discovered? I have found loose loaded rounds in my bag after a trip from back in my days when my range bag pulled double duty.

    CMP 1911 Round 4

I got a Service Grade in round 3 that I was happy with. I'm on the list of round 4 and curious what will be available - I'm sitting at 44,052. I think they are currently in the mid 42K range as far as shipping. @d31tc If you keep your ears open I am sure you can get into the future round 5...

    Nationwide Pistol Brace Injunction granted

This is a welcome development for a Thursday morning. I wonder if the injunction will have any impact on how the ATF will continue or discontinue enforcing their rule?

    MAS 36 or MAS 49/56

If I were only going to own one of those two I would likely lean toward the MAS 36. Both are collectible in their own right but the 36 is a little older and has the connection to WWII. Both are collectible in their own right, but from a shooting perspective the 36 will be easier on brass and...

    Mauser banner Standard model

It looks like a laminate stock to me. In addition to the layers of glued wood visible in pictures one and two there are layers clearly seen on the above and below rifle views in pictures three, four, and five.

    Russian Saiga 308-1

I also have a Saiga .308. It's a great rifle, very reliable, and fun to shoot. I think the only drawback you might run into are larger capacity magazines. 7.62x39, 5.45, and 5.56 AK mags are everywhere but the good .308 mags are in shorter supply.

Brandon Herrera is running for Congress

@Kershaw I'm curious what makes his affiliates less than savory? If nothing else, perhaps a strong primary will scare his opponent into realizing the ways of a RINO won't be tolerated? At best, perhaps a strong pro 2A representative would be sent to Washington. The ability of one, or a...
