    all 10 -22 the same

People add the accessories because they are available and because they can. I have a "tricked out" blued one and an all stock stainless model. Both shoot well at 100 yards.

    Narrowing down the Grab-n-Go Bag

Take it out into the woods for a weekend and live out of it. I went from a 50+ lb. ALICE pack with everything to a Maxpedition fat boy versapack that weighs 10 lbs. Rough list: 2 .380 mags,2 space blankets, roll of guaze and first aid tape, lighter and tinder, cheese crackers and chocolate bars...

Do you do things differently when you are armed?

I have carried illegally and legally since I was 21 (23 years, sigh). I have watched others who are new to carry, and veterans of carrying. The thing I have noticed is that most everyone who is carrying is more at-ease and avoids conflict. I have also noticed that those that are carrying are...

Remington 700 vs. Savage FP series .308

There is a lonely 700 in my gun cabinet. My model 12 Savage goes to the range now. The 700 is a great shooter, but the Savage is just a little better, and feels a little more comfortable. The 700 had trigger work, glass bedding, re-crowned the barrel, and a polish job on the bolt. The Savage, I...

    Having trouble with accuracy

Maybe try a 3 shot string, let the rifle cool for 30 minutes and fire another 3 shot string. If the scope is taking the recoil, both will be about the same. If not, scope time. If so, most likely you have a severely worn barrel that is opening up with heat. I fought with an A2 for quite a while...

Universal M1 Carbine: Is the thing worth a darn?

I have one of those, pretty good except for too often stovepipe jams. Mine was made in '64, IIRC. Heres a good link I found: http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_universal3.html

    You got $1000 which rifle+caliber for 600yd+

Savage 12 with upgraded stock. .308 due to price and availability of components. I got out for just over $1200 new with new Millet optics. Sub-moa @ 100 yards, one 5" group @ 600 yards, 200 rounds fired total. Sweetest out of the box shooter I've ever owned.

Is a bullet proof vest worth it?

If it is for your "go-kit", then by all means. If it is for daily wear in a non-high risk setting then save your money. Even a level II is hot, cumbersome, rides up, and eventually stinks. I wore one for years (actually several) and was glad when I no longer had to. If you're buying for an...

    Scope Question

I wish you luck. I have tried a few Leapers products over the years and found them to be lacking in quality and durability. I learned the hard way to spend more on the scope than I did on the rifle. My last one also came from CTD, an AR-15 carry handle mount scope with BDC. It would not hold...

Hi all. I hail from Myrtle Beach, SC. My main loves are my Savage .308, Delta H-Bar, and Glock 17, but I love all guns. My previous background required the carrying of similar firearms until my "retirement"several years ago. Now I enjoy seeing how far I can make a .308 round travel and still...
