WSF and 40 S&W - Published data vs chronograph

Thanks. The first six rounds of the 165 seemed like what I was expecting. I made this load years ago to reliably cycle the Glock 22 with minimal recoil. I wonder if the readings are off due to heat? This one was wrong for sure, so I just excluded it.

WSF and 40 S&W - Published data vs chronograph

Recently I was reloading 40 S&W using WSF and 165g Zero JHP’s. I’ve been using WSF for years with 180 and 165 grain JHP’s, and went to loaddata.com to compare the load I’ve been using with what was published. I noticed that my pet load, 5.4 grains WSF with 165 JHP’s is much lower than the data...

This is why you clean and inspect cases

The larger flash hole is likely from factory ammo using a "green" (lead free) primer. I have read they are safe to reload as usual.

    9mm & Green Dot

I typed in "2004 alliant reloaders guide" and the first thing that came up was a link to the PDF. You are right, there is definitely more info in there.

    9mm & Green Dot

Thanks. Why in the world would they get rid of data for a powder they still make? Seems like poor marketing to me. There is no data at all for Green Dot in 9mm in the 2009 Alliant book I have.

    9mm & Green Dot

I have the 2009 Alliant guide, and it does not list any data for Green Dot and 9mm. If you have the page, that would be great. I'll sent you a PM. Absolutely. I measured several of my Berrys plated and they were all .355, so your data should work for starters. I'm headed to your link to...

    9mm & Green Dot

I am looking for some confirmation on Green Dot data for 124 grain Berrys plated. The only data I can find is for a swaged bullet. Shows 3.8 to 4.2 grains. I also took a look at the Ramshot Zip data because it burns at a similar speed. It shows 3.9 to 4.3 grains, also a lead round. Think...

    .40 s&W

Both of the replies above are for jacketed bullets. The OP is requesting data for a plated bullet. As I recall, shouldn't he be using data for led, not jacketed?

    Tumblers

I got the Lyman 1200 Auto-Flo and it seems to work, although I have nothing to compare it to. I've found that just pulling the plug will not drain away all the media, lots still remains in the cases. But stirring it around for a minute or two will usually gets nearly all of it to drain. It...

    Newbie needs help

I am probably one of the few people who have purchased two starter kits. One was an RCBS Rockchucker kit, and the other was the Lee 50th Anniversary. I like the Lee Breech Lock Challenger press, and the Lee Safety Prime system is WAY better than the tube feed used by RCBS. The RCBS 505 scale...

    Reloading Table

If you want no flex at all, use 4"x6" beam construction with two layers of 3/4" plywood for a top. :neener:

Assembling first reload gear-small parts: "Anniv. Kit".

Welcome to your Lee 50th Anniversary reloading kit: After getting the press out of the box you will need to attach the aluminum primer catcher to the side. When the primers come out, this directs them down the tube and into the trash can (more often than not). To assemble the...

    First time reloading

Before I had a vibrating case tumbler I used a Iosso Brass Case Cleaner Kit. Worked like a charm.

Yup, Santa did stop by this year:

    Kel Tec SU16

I have only run brass cased ammo through mine, but I hear many others running steel. From what I read, you just don't want to mix steel and brass ammo between a good cleaning. You should also check out the SU-16 faq at KTOG. The SU-16 message board is full of usefull information on these...

    Fun with shell sorting.

I purchased some range brass from YANKEE2500 here in THR Trading Post. I got a good price, and Yankee was jolly on the spot getting it into the mail. While sorting the brass cases from the nickel I opened my hand to find a bonus gift...
