Grips for round butt N-frame S&W

I have two pairs of Altamont grips and I’m not impressed. From a side view they look real good but the edges of the grips are crudely machined to profile leaving a squared off edge with sharp corners. They’re actually very uncomfortable under recoil because of the edges of the grips.

Glock 19. My first Glock. My first impressions

Two solutions that don't involve your girlfriends grip or grip strength, if it's going to be her pistol, you can change the recoil spring assembly to a RSA that's two pounds lighter. The other solution is to have her shoot with hot ammo. The stove pipes have a lot to do with the velocity of...

does everyone carry their 1911 cocked and locked?

Yes, absolutely. I carried one of my 1911's IWB condition 1 in a White Hat holster every day for six months or more and frequently checked the thumb safety to make sure it was still engaged and it always was. If it weren't so heavily custom I would still carry it. If you're curious, I carry a...

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

Tripp Research makes magazine upgrade kits for the Wilson mags and Tripp Research's mag springs are a good bit stronger than most other manufacturer's mag springs. One of their upgrade kits should fix you up. I've had good success with their upgrade kits.

    conceal carry a 4 inch??

I've carried a 4" model 19 and I still would if I still had it. I used a hybrid IWB holster with a strong forward cant but unlike most other people I carried mine slight ahead of the 3:00 position. This way I could bend, stoop or kneel with very little printing. I carry a full size semi-auto the...

Best 1911 made at around $3000.

For that kind of money you could also go to the opposite end of the 1911 spectrum, such as an original Colt, pre "A1" series, say circa 1918 or thereabouts, all original parts, original finish, etc. One of those will generally make folks suck in their breath.

Is carrying a pistol "high" in AiWB ok?

i use holsters similar to yours, either a Theis two clip model with a 5" 1911 or a White Hat Max Tuck with a Sig P227R but I wear them at about the 2:30 position right hand with a strong forward cant. this puts the muzzle and the toe of the grip on the 3:00 line so I can bend, stoop and squat...

Shooting my 586 at 100 Yards- Video- and I'd like DA Shooting tips

Smoothly for me. Trying to stage throws the sights out of alignment. I start the pull slowly so the sights stay in alignment then speed up the pull as I pull through. By the time I finish the pull I've zoomed right past the final take up stage as if it weren't there and the sights stay in...

    what would ya'll do?

Keep what ya got. An edc gets dirty surprisingly quickly, gets scratched, banged, beat up, etc. and you won't know how it happened. No need for a new gun just to put it thru all that. You've got a great gun already, get your CCW, clean and oil her frequently and go practice.

.357 Mag Double Action control schooling?

I qualified for my enhanced CCW using a 686+ with magnum hand loads, everything inside the 8 ring, and I'm like BCRider. I begin the DA trigger pull relatively slowly and build the pressure, or increase the speed of the trigger pull as I pull the trigger through smoothly and I don't "stage" the...

    Scoped Revolver: Talk to me.

The only one I've ever owned, and this was years ago, was a Ruger Redhawk with factory scope rings and a Leupold scope, 44 mag. From the bench at 100 yards I could shoot it better than a lot of hunters can shoot their rifles. 3.5" groups at 100 yards from a sand bag rest with factory HP ammo...

IWB Appendix carry holster for N frame

I've never tried appendix carry with an N frame but when I put my 5" 1911 down the front of my pants the muzzle either pokes me in the leg or the muzzle is all the way down there amongst my privates, especially while I'm sitting down. Good luck with that.

how do you guys actually conceal when you carry??

+1 The 2:45 position with a strong forward cant. Theis hybrid holster IWB, baggy shirt tucked or un-tucked. Full size 1911. I'm 5'-8" and 140 pounds. This way I can bend, stoop or kneel down with almost no printing and only a tiny bulge below the belt of my pants when my shirt is tucked in.

    Springfield XDs Recall

It seems to me as if the final take-up of the trigger pull has a lot more creep to it now and I seem to want to stroke the XDs trigger like a DAO revolver or DAO semi auto without pausing at the final take-up, just stroke it smooth and continuous all the way through. Has anyone else felt this...

Lose one: Sig Sauer P220 or Springfield 1911?

It depends. If you can do your own smithin' or you want to have more custom work done, ditch the Sig and keep the 1911. If you're more of the buy it and shoot it type then ditch the 1911 and keep the Sig. Of course we all know you oughta have both.

What's Wrong With Polymer Framed And Striker Fired Guns

All quite true of course, but the pencil test does tell us how hard the striker or firing pin strikes the primer. And my 1911's run 100%. I won't leave them alone until they do.
