In a combat zone with no zero

You make it outta Kuwait without zeroing unless you're an officer.

Okay, folks. Let's keep it clean.

http://lightfighter.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7206084761/m/2071025143 I used to be a dry guy but I had problems while in Afghanistan. I'm a wet guy now and currently in Iraq and have no issues. I carry lube in my rack and occasionally give it a squirt when I don't have anything better to do...

Knife vs. Gun at Contact Distance

I disagree with this. It is certainly easier to produce an instant stop with a firearm. It's very difficult to manage a CNS shutdown with a knife against a resisting opponent. I don't think it's easy vs a compliant subject, either (ubersecret-ninja sentry elimination techniques included)...

Knife vs. Gun at Contact Distance

Taking the discussion of the tueller drill out of this and getting back to strictly CQC... All things being equal, I consider the gun to be my primary tool and the knife a backup. The firearm provides more options, the most important being that it's still a viable weapon once you break...

SLED Firearms Instructor Cert. -> worth the money?

Vaughn, I guess it depends on what you want to do in the 'security' field. Having instructor credentials gives you a leg up on instructor positions, but I don't see alot else it's gonna help with. From the other courses you listed, it seems like you're interested in EP/CP work. ESI is wicked...

    Gun Friendly Sensei

If a MA guru is anti-weapon (gun, knife, stick, whatever) then you can rest assured that they cannot prepare you for an actual violent confrontation properly.

    "Goin' to the Ground?"

'Cause he's retarded? :( I dunno what it is, but you give a guy some basic (but frequently stupid or obsolete) confrontational training and they come away with the impression that they're experts. "Ooohhh, I'm being shot at! Better lay down and thrash around!"

Why not train, or play with Simunitions??

Airsoft is a fantastic FOF tool for civvies and those on a budget. If you get once of the better pistols, it should hold up to a good amount of abuse as well as duplicate your carry rig. I'd recommend taking a structured FOF class from a good trainer so you can get an idea of how to structure...

LOOKING for a Good CCW Class in ATLANTA

    Ditto. 2nd recommendation for Dave.

    Very newbie CCW question.

IMO, strongside hip carry is the best overall carry method providing a good blend of concealment, retention and speed. If you're dead set on tucking your shirt there are quite a few tuckable holsters available (search for 'tuckable') that totally conceal the gun, yet keep it relatively...

    Opinions on Blackwater

Very good point. About 1/2 of the guys in our class had some kinda loading device. The rest of us all bought some kinda gloves from the shop just for loading mags. Talk about raw...

    Butch Johnson Martial Arts

Dude, I gotta say, when I hear '10th degree blackbelt' I can't help but roll my eyes. Maybe he's the shiz'nit, I dunno. I'm just sensitive to the hype that people push. Call me cynical.

    Extreme Close Quarters Course....pics

I cross posted this over there. I think you have the right idea about the homework. You'll probably be fine as long as you don't just charge in and advertise your classes. :p
