    VihtaVuori N110

N110 fits VERY well between blue dot and H110/296. IME it preforms just about like 2400. With jacketed bullets it is usually the cleanest loads I have in 357, 41, and 44 magnum. I stick with 2400 under cast slugs as a general rule though.

    loading for a 44 carbine

Plated would most likely be a bad idea. In a rifle, unless they are loaded to mousefart pressures, the sealed chamber and long barrel will run them fast enough to strip the plating. When that happens, you'll have messy barrel to clean, and rounds on target no more accurately than a smoothbore...

Trouble With A 44 Mag Load???

First, the 2400 w or w/o mag primer thing will go on for eternity. IME, it's a bit temperature related. In very cold weather, I've had 2400 give me fits with standard primers, but never with magnum ones. And so far, in my guns, the targets and chrony are plenty happy with magnums lighting the...

Interesting trend here, regarding slug weight here ain't it folks? I go that extra one grain of 4350 you don't, Arkansas Paul, and sometimes just a touch less, depending on the exact slug I'm loading. Behind any decently made 165 grain slug, a max or near max charge of 4350 nets me high...

First Loads - Am I gonna blow my face off?

You should be just fine with that load. But as others have suggested there are better suited powders out there for your application.

    Coyote Caliber Considerations

Get a 223 IMO. It's relatively inexpensive to practice with for one. Secondly, nearly anywhere in the country that sells ammo will have some variety or other of 223 ammo on hand. If you're considering a serious varmint rig? 22-250 or 243 deserve some heavy investigation, or if you're a...

    Tarus Tracker 4" 44 Mag - 300gr cast loads

My H110 load @ 19.5 chronos at 1498fps pretty consistently which seems pretty darn decent for that short of a barrel (and makes me wonder about pressure levels a bit even with this load). Let me get this straight- You're getting basically 1500 fps with a 300 grain slug in a 4" barreled 44 mag...

Nothing wrong with H4895 at all. But with a slug weight over 160 in a 30-06, fired from a bolt action, 4350 has much more potential in the velocity dept.

when was the last time you bought ammo???

Rimfire, shotgun and 380 ACP are all on the recently purchased list. Other than that, nadda. Shooting hand loads.

Bolt action? If so, and you have either IMR or H 4350 around, you may want to look into it.

    3-1/2" in heavy grass/brush

If the receiver is stamped magnum, and the barrel says 2 3/4 or 3" then a 3" magnum will work. If either of these designations are missing, stick with the 2 3/4" shells.

The slide on my M&P is rusting

OK. My bad. If it is stainless, it's a poor grade of such. Either that, or the factory finish holds moisture. Remedies are still the same.

The slide on my M&P is rusting

Not trying to be rude here, but even with a sub-par finish or finish application, rust like that doesn't happen very often with a daily wipe down. You have three basic options- 1. If the gun has(most likely) proven reliable, bite the bullet and go for an upgraded finish. 2. Prepare to...

The most (and least) armed states in the union (Daily Beast)

Interesting. Utah is the same way, and given we are seen as the national clearing house for CCW permits, one has to wonder what that does to the true numbers. Kentucky- 1.34 per resident? NICELY done!!!!:D

The most DEPENDABLE shotgun you own..

Currently, one of the Siaga-12's fill the niche. Used to be an 870 variant. I'm faster and better with an S-12, And the ones I have are 100 percent reliable so far at about the 2,000 round mark.

    Number of cartridges?

Easily over 5 each in both rifle and pistol calibers. In this sub-forum, I expect that 5+ will be your most popular answer.

One of our best crossed over. To those close to him, my heart goes out to you. As for me personally, I never met him in person, but got to know him quite well via PMs. A most high class individual.

    Carbide or steel dies?

Clarification on my part- I use the oneshot in only certain applications for 2 reasons. 1. Unless you spray WAY too heavy it doesn't make a mess out or you loading blocks like the Dillon pump/squirt lube will. Nor does it make a mess out of the case feeder on the Dillon 650. And it...

    Carbide or steel dies?

Get the carbide dies for the pistol rounds and a couple cans of Hornady one shot. Put 50 rounds in your loading blocks and give a light spray down one side. This will lube every 5th round through the die. The residual lube on the die gives out by the 4th round, so when the next one goes in...
