    Blow Gun

Many years ago, I use to make them as a kid. The first was maybe 3' long and we found that by making them longer we increased velocity and accuracy. So of course we went whole hog and ended up with one we had to prop up and was about 6' long. That thing would shoot through 1/4' plywood. Anyway...

    Has anyone shot a short-barrelled 454 Casull?

You could fire that thing with blanks and the flame coupled with unprotected hearing would have to stop just about anything. :fire:

Never owned a firearm, maybe never will

I think you all are just dealing with a troll and he's winning.

    Cleaning a Ported Revolver

I just use Hoppe's and a toothbrush on mine. Works ok for me.

Your stupidest moment with a firearm?

This discussion is very relevant to me at the moment. I bought a new .357 Tracker a couple weeks ago and had fired a box of .38’s in it, but yesterday decided to run a couple assorted boxes of max load .357’s through it. I don’t know if it’s the porting (6-1/2†barrel) or what, but this...

Lightweight handguns...good for range or not?

The range pistol I enjoy most is 357, 3lbs loaded with a 6-1/2†ported barrel. You can shoot it all day with full loads, besides being very accurate.

Which of these guns should be next to my bed?

No kids left in my house so I keep a 7 shot 357 revolver loaded with 38's in my bedside table. Even if I can't shoot them I can do some damage on their head with a 6-1/2" dbl barrel.

Report on my wife's progress re: guns

Until about 4 months ago my wife had never even touched a gun. I have always had a gun rack in my home office with 5 rifles and shotguns and told her that was my space and I wasn’t moving anything (12 years ago when we were married (2nd wife). Well 4 months ago on a Saturday morning she asked...

    Leather holster for a Taurus 627 Tracker 6†in .357

I've been looking around for a holster for this revolver and haven't had much luck. Anyone have any suggestions short of custom?

I want a new "Big" Knife

Bark River Rogue...hands down in that price range. Only thing I would do is maybe get a different sheath.

    CRKT Crawford Kasper

Sometimes I think that knife sharpening is becoming a lost art with all the doodad sharpeners that do it for you. I’ve been sharpening using stones for so many years I would never buy one of those, myself. Once you learn how to use a stone you can do just about anything with them. There is...

    Medical conditions and CCW?

I would suggest that you step back and make an unbiased evaluation on how you would answer that question if it were your neighbor or a relative in the same situation. I would also solicit the opinions of knowledgeable people that you know and trust with the background to help make such a decision.

If I fired an arrow into the sky.....

Since mathematics hadn’t been invented when I was in school I’ll have to claim ignorance. Anything more than 3 rocks and we were lost.

Convinced my 67 year old Dad to get a gun!

You make it sound like your father at 67 is old, decrepit and just short of a wheel chair in the nursing home. I can assure you that most people have all their facilities at 67. I’m only 6 years younger than your father and if my son talked about me like I was a helpless old fool I’d kick...

    Joining the NRA

I joined two months ago and just got my ID card. I paid with my AMEX and they didn't charge it till they issued the card though.

    Desert Dagger

I don’t know of any of the Dremmel stones that will take out the scratch without causing more damage. I would use a hand block with the appropriate grades of sandpaper to get out, or blend in the scratch and then use the Dremmel buffing wheel with the rouge.

The myth of hogs as "dangerous game" (semi-long rant)

I laugh at danger! No 2-300lb wild hog is going to scare me. I hunt them here in the Jersey Pines with nothing but a slingshot and a Leatherman. I haven’t seen too many, but I’m ready for um.:uhoh:
