Okay, I am trying not to think about heller, so he here is what I have been thinking about for the last few days

So last week we had a big traffic snarl in one of the suburbs of the twin cities, and it turns out that Dick Cheney isn't really dead and the information was being hidden from the public, he was in Wayzata attending a hush hush fundraiser, one of those $1000 a plate jobbers.

Now I know this goes on and I am fine with it. But here is my thinking. Does McCain still do these kinds of things, or is that seen as bad, so have proxies do it?

Okay, here is where the gun related part comes in. McCain is just a C+ RKBA guy according to the NRA ranking, so many people are a bit concerned about how much he will do, and possibly because they aren't totally happy with him in other areas, are really hoping he comes out strong RKBA so they can with a good conscience vote for him. Hence, what can a person do to show strong RKBA ideals, besides back certain laws, stand against others?

Now, I am sure you all know that Cavalry Arms was targeted by the ATF for absolutely no reason, isn't being charged with anything, and the ATF is just holding their stuff in an attempt to ruin their lives through harrassment. Cav arms is in Arizona, the state in which McCain holds his senate seat.

So what I was wondering, what if the THR'ers poolled their money. We'd only need 100 people to thrown in $10, or 50 if people threw in $20, to have enough money to buy a seat at one of these fundraiser dinners. I'd definately pledge to to a $20 and I am a poor working stiff who drives a 10 year old beater to work. So anyways, we get this 'ticket' and we give it to one of the Cav arms guys, who can attend the event, and ask McCain specifically about the issue. I understand some squirming because going after the ATFs jackboot ways can be painted by opposition as being 'anti-cop' and that is not good. But possibly by forcing his hand we get some help for Cav arms, and we get a bit better of an idea how much McCain is willing to embrace RKBA, i.e. strongy, or in name only.

So, does McCain attend $1000 plate fundraiser dinners? Do we have anyone here who is active or connected enough politically they hear about such things before the last minute? Would anyone here know anyone from Cav arms who would be interesting in looking McCain in the eyes and asking what he is going to do about it?

It would be a very slim chance that would happen. Those events are social for the most part. You would have little opportunity for a hit and run maneuver such as this without simply being asked to leave.

In many cases the candidate is not even there for most of the dinner. They come in around dessert, say their prepared remarks, everyone claps then they haul off to the next one.
