Just askin if theres still people like me that still use the 10 gauge 3 1/2 anymore?...i have a browning bps and a remington sp 10 and i love to use them both.Seems all you hear about and read is just about the 12 3 1/2, maybe the big 10's are on there way out.

There'e still a place for The Big 10, when stuff requiring lots of shot needs shooting way out there.

But as always, it's a niche market. Most folks don't need to fold honkers at 50 yards, and SHOULDN'T TRY.

Dedicated waterfowlers will always need big shotguns, and the 10 is the biggest by law.

In the UK we can still use a 4 bore and a punt gun,so much for restrictions !
10B is a very popular wildfowl gun here, mainly used on geese,we stick to a 40-45 yd max.

same here...i pretty much use it on geese and crow hunting here in the midwest. Also love it for turkey's too.

Geese and turkeys. They just made my area of Kali go for steel shot for upland game! The 10ga rules for steel shot!

I just wonder why more people don't buy 10ga for social work ... I'm thinking a nice SP10 with an extended mag tube would make a nice house gun

I have a 20" Aya Matador with a 13" Limbsaver hidden up high in the TV room and loaded with #4 buck and slug. I only shot a 30 pound nasty racoon off the porch with the first buckshot barrel-so far!

i was about 10 minutes late on a Ithaca "Roadblocker 10" have never seen one since... thats a cool looking piece.

10ga ma g could puta hurt on somebody for sure...

With improvements in shot technology and patterns, the 10's role seems pretty limited. Even a 12 with 3" Hevi-Shot can kill a coyote at 70 yards.

I have an SP-10 that I use for turkeys. As Dave noted, it's the program for throwing lots of shot. My 10 has excellent patterns to 60 yards. I got my turkey last year at 52 yards with #5 Hevi-Shot. Down side is that it's like carrying a railroad tie around.

Probably because there is many more ammo choices in 12 gauge, and you see many opting for weaker than standard 12, getting reduced recoil type loadings making it equal to something even smaller. Reduced recoil/tactical is reduced payload and/or velocity. Meaning what they really want is something more like a 20 gauge loading.

I just do not see a lot of "I use magnum shells loaded with 12-18 00 buck at full power for home defense in my 12 gauge, you should too" type posts. Which leads me to believe there is not a large crowd that feels what they need is not available in something smaller than 10 gauge for HD.

However if you need bigger for home defense, take a look at http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh30-e.htm
4 gauge riotshotgun. The civilian version is known as the TOZ-123.

A monster of a shotgun. Unfortunately the only US importer of TOZ guns does not import that model.

If you want to stay legal for hunting you could check out the "12 gauge from hell" thread. That is a massive beast.

I've got some 2 oz Federal slugs. They'd probably be adequate. I think the term "overkill" would apply here.

one of the guys that hunts with us uses an ithica 10 gauge, when he hits the ducks they drop dead
