Does anyone have experience with these two 10ga shotguns? As far as I know, I think the SP-10 has a good reputation (feel free to correct me), but I don't know about the Browning Gold. I know their 12ga version has a good reputation. I'm curious to know if the 10ga version holds up well and is reliable.

[Elvis voice] Thank you very much. [/Elvis voice]

I've got an SP-10. Way heavy to carry. Feeds reliably. Very little recoil.

I can tell you from personal experience that, with a Tru-Lock choke it patterns Hevi-Shot very well to 50 yards, and is instant death on turkeys at 15 yards.

I've only put maybe 20 rounds thru it, so I have limited long term experience.

Both are durable. I think you have a better chance of getting a great running gun with the Browning. The current Browning is on an alloy reciever, and carries a WORLD better than the SP, but the price comes in recoil. The SP is very soft shooting, the Gold is like a 3.5" 12 in recoil.

The 3.5" 12 is within a couple percent in every category, plus gives a ton more flexibility. I run a 3.5" 12 for those reasons. I still want a 10 though:evil:

Agree with redneck2 SP- 10 is a great gun, very reliable, but way to heavy to tote around. I sold mine and opted for a 12 ga. 3 ½” model.

Have the gold (lite) and the steel receiver model,
The only way to go if you reload, otherwise get the 3.5" 12ga. shotguns. You'll spend a $1 per shell on the cheapest stuff for the 10ga and be unhappy with the results from the penny pinching shells.
As for recoil, never noticed when I was hunting.
I'd STRONGLY recommend the 26" barrel, the receiver is already long enough and the 30" barrel I have seems like a telephone pole.
The Brownings hold 5 shells, kinda nice for snow geese.
