10mm Auto Options

I would like to know what are my options when it comes to buying a 10mm pistol other than Glock, EAA and Colt Delta.

I think Kimber makes one.

Kimber makes a decent one, and RIA recently started producing a 10mm 1911 of their own. I'd advise against the Delta on account of the unramped barrel. If you want something custom, then Fusion, Wilson Combat, et al can all put a 10mm together for you as well. Olympic Arms makes a 10mm AR as well.

New or used? I have a Glock 20 and a Smith 1006. The 1006 is a really fine gun: strong, accurate and reliable. Guns out of production can run into parts availability problems, but I always by a bucket of spare parts with every gun so I'm covered there. Anyway, a used 10mm might be an option ... might not.

If you can find one of the used S&W 1006 series guns it just might be the best 10mm ever made. If not, the Glock is the only other option I'd seriously consider. Possibly one of the S&W revolvers chambered in 10mm. But those are quite rare and expensive.

Rock Island is making one for under $600, you can find it on Cheaper then Dirt. It looks like a nice gun.

I've run several of the S&W 1076s, and they are my first choice for more limited funds(non-Glock, that is). Floating around here somewhere is a link to a S&W NOS sale of a batch of the 1006s that were going for around $700. The only disadvantage with the S&W 10xx series is magazine cost.

Powerball winner? STI Perfect 10s w/o a doubt.

The S&W autos would be my first choice. Search the used market. You can get a used Smith cheaper than a Delta, Kimber or Dan Wesson.

Glock is always an option if you have big enough hands and are willing to add the cost of an aftermarket barrel (assuming you want to reload your empties).

There is also the Dan Wesson "Razorback" RZ-10. As far as quality, this gun is on par with the Wilson Combat, and may be a much better buy than the Colt or Wilson. Although the brand is now owned by CZ, Dan Wesson is still made in the US.

DW made these for several years, then stopped for several years, and now they are back in the lineup, although in limited quantities. The limited past and present production makes these guns very hard to find.

Just to toss this out there, I know you said pistol..........

Smith and Wesson made a revolver in 10mm, the 610. Uses moon clips for fast reloads and has a good reputation. Advantage is you can shoot low power .40 loads in it.

I've always wished that Beretta would make an M9 style 10mm. I emailed them, they said no. I also wish KRISS would make there pistol in 10mm. I emailed them, they also said no.

Had a 1006, G20, Witness so far and for my needs the G20 was the best.

The 1006 is an awesome 10MM platform, but way too heavy for field carry.

The Witness was nicer for field carry but the accuracy wasn't what I wanted.

The G20 with a Storm Lake barrel was the best of both worlds.

I'd love to see a Springfield XD in 10MM. I'd also love a Wilson or Wesson in 10MM but its a bit more than what I want to pay for one.

I've mulled over the AR15 in 10MM but just haven't gone that way.

The 10MM is a great round and I've reloaded it for years. You can really get that bullet moving with 800X if your a reloader.

That handgun has much potential. I almost bought one of the "first run" guns with 6" barrel, almost. I don't hunt nor like to shoot a lot so I passed on it. I'm glad I held out for
short-barreled 9x19 revolver.

I actually wished that H&K mark23 is introduced in a 10mm model. More capacity and the beast is built tough to take punishing ballistics.

Yea. Carried that on the hip hunting in Southern Arizona in a Bianche Accumold holster. After walking miles in the desert hunting birds, up and down washes, it got very uncomfortable. Went with a G20 and the difference was noticeable.

S&w 1076

Great gun. Has a supported chamber, so less chance of a kaboom than a glock. No known frame/slide-cracking issues like a 1911 type. If it's too heavy try an Alaskan Guide holster. That weight helps with recoil for followup shots.

I run a Kimber Eclispe Custom 2 10mm ...nice shooter. It was worth the 1 year wait to finally get the order completed.
While I was waiting for the Kimber I went out and got a Glock G20. The Glock is my go to beat around toy. I bought a KKM precision 6" drop-in barrel and this made the difference as far as accuracy and to stop the big case bulge that the Glock stock barrels leave. If you don't re-load or plan to just run the stock Glock and enjoy!

Not at all. You don't mind the weight, I did. That was my $.02 cents worth. Other opinions vary.
