I have a 1100 Remington 20 gauge standard weight (Not LW) gun that is chambered for 3" shells. If I switch to a barrel for 2 3/4 only shells will that let me shoot regular 2 3/4 target loads?

It would, if you can find one. Barrels that fit the early, one size fits all gauges frames are scarce.

Try Barrelexchange.com, Corson's, etc.

Good luck....

Those are maybe the softest recoiling 20 ga ever made BTW. Hint: E bay is again allowing barrel sales !!!!

They are still popular with a lot of target shooters, and all the relative parts and pieces are getting dear. An alternative might be to get your barrel fitted with choke tubes by a competent individual, and drill another gas port in the barrel and tap it so you can plug it with a small Allen screw to go back to Magnums when you like.

"drill another gas port in the barrel and tap it"
That's a great idea! I wonder what size I would need to go to. I really need to get my hands on a 2 3/4 chambered gun and look at the gas ports.
