Ordered some of this stuff from Midway and it came in. Went to the range with my SKS rifle yesterday. Wasted about 15 rounds before I realized my scope mount screws had loosened. :banghead: Tightened (need to loctite those I guess, been 10 years since I mounted it, but guess it worked loose) and proceeded to sight in. I shot a 3" and a 2 1/2" five shot group with it at 100 yards before proceeding to the pistol range for plinking. Good 'nuf for hunting. It's a little more accurate than that FMJ stuff, good enough for hunting IMHO, no farther than I'll be shooting. They shoot about 2" lower at 50 yards than the 123 grain FMJ stuff, so I guess the sight in is specific to the 154 grain load, but the stuff is cheap, so I'll buy some more to mess with. I've got about 70 rounds left of the initial 100 I bought. Now, to shoot a hog with it. :D

Get these while you can. They're great slugs. I had a batch a while back but in the past four years the local shops can't get ahold of any of it.

Huh, I just bought two boxes at my local store yesterday. Maybe I should go back and buy the rest.

My rifle (M-30) has never seen a factory round, but that said, it prefers 150g bullets with the 1 in 10 twist. I get 2" groups @ 100yds and that's only because I get a flyer in the bunch.

I couldn't find it local, either, down here in podunk. I ordered it. Plan to order some more. Midway has 500 rounds for 120 bucks, seems like a decent deal on effective hunting ammo. Not much of a break on 1000 rounds (220), but a good break over 100 rounds. They're $5.49 a box of 20, I think, IIRC. Shipping gets ya, so it pays to order bulk if you can. With shipping, 100 rounds was 41 bucks, and with midway's "round up" for the NRA.

Dang! My local place had 'em for $4.49 per box of 20, plus tax. I really should drop in tomorrow or Saturday and buy up whatever they have left.

If anyone's around the Butler area, it's Sportsman's supply. I bet the price would stay the same if they order more. It's too bad their price on Wolf Military Classic 124 gr JHP (which slightly outperforms all of the domestic 123 gr softpoint loads) isn't competitive at all. I asked them to check if they could get some, and if so, the price for a case, and left my phone number. Communications breakdown or something, and they ordered one instead of just pricing it. $230 + tax for 1,000, while AIM Surplus has 'em for about $200 shipped.
