155 Grain Palma Match

Thank you all for your insight and helpful replies. I am pretty much resigned to using the dozen or so 155 Palmas for fouling shots and staying with the heavier weight bullets. Just as an experiment, I am going to load the last 12 Palmas as close as I can get to the rifling and see if it makes any difference. I am thinking that it might. My mid range load may well be the standard 155 MK or better yet, the 175 which gets really nice groups for as far as I have tested them.

after comparing to a 168 gr. match king i know for sure that not near as much of the 155 palma is touching rifling. also they are the same OAL. but the tapper on the 155 is slower, also the 155 has a much more pronounced bow-tail almost twice as long as the 168 gr. that is where the rifling touch is missing on the 155. still gonna stick with throat erosion till i know the number of rounds fired through barrel.

The SMK uses a tangent ogive, and the SMK Palma uses a secant ogive, the taper is "flatter" looking, similar to an AMAX bullet's. I use the Palmas for 300BLK loads because they fit the magazine better. I don't even use 155's in my .308 any more, 168's and 175's shoot better for me.
