Anyone spotted a 17 hmr O/U (probably coupled with a 20 gauge) or a decent lever action yet? Just seems like it would be a absolutely awesome truck gun for varmits. Flatter shooting for distance work, still powerful enough for coyotes at reasonable distances with good placement..

Winchester--pic in the newest American Rifleman--NRA pub--I think.

gorgious piece, but a bit pricey for a truck or horse gun.

Same problem there..

Marlin seems to only have their bolt action model avaliable atm..

Rugers offering looks like a bastardized 10/22

Have I forgotten anyone? I've got two women-folk who are heavy into horses and once or twice wished they had something. Both are recoil sensitive, and the horses haven't been firearm broken..

Winchester also has made a run of 9417s for davidsons's that have a grey/black laminate stock. If you can wait, Ruger is releasing a 10/17 in '04. Or simply get one of thier 96/17 lever guns. not sure but check if Savage or springfield offer an O/U with the .17 HMR in either of thier respective O/U's. Forgot... EAA offers thier Model 94 in a .17/.410 O/U configuration.

Savage only has a single shot.. and its at $250. Sad, but at this rate I might be better off doing a barrel insert on a 10/22 magnum..

I know its not a lever or o/u, but the taurus pump rifles based on the old winchester m62 design, are available in .17. Ive been considering picking up one of these in 22 magnum, but the .17 caliber looks fun too.
