I just got a CZ 527 in .17 rem. Haven't shot it yet but if it proves to be a good shooter then I will begin reloading for it. Had my mind all made up on 25 gr hornady hollow points. Well I got my new Midsouth catalog in the mail and noticed they now have 25 gr V-Max's, so now that is an option. Will be used for paper mostly (those are nasty critters and must be disposed of!!) and maybe the occasional varmint (groundhogs and maybe coyotes). Does anyone have any experience with the 25 V-Max or should I just stick with the hollow points?

(There is a large amount of paper attacking my desk as we speak!:uhoh:)

Thanks,
Marty

I have two 17 Remingtons, a Remington 700 and a heavy barrel, "crew served" AR-15. The Remington prefers the 25 grain V-Max while the AR prefers Berger 25 grain hollow points.

But, I can swap loads between guns and I don't see much difference.

So, you need to experiment. It is part of the fun of reloading.

Yes, cellulose fibers can be pesky at times!

Never seen a gun that didn't like V-Max bullets.

Try it.

My buddies .17 Rem CZ-527 is a "one-holer" with them.
So is mine in .223.

I've had good luck with the V-Maxs also, so I guess I'll spend that extra whole 15 dollars :D on some of them too. The big problem here in middle TN are the feral cellulose fibers(technical term!). They sneak in and eat up all the ink in your printers!

Thanks for the info,
Marty
