I'll be running these out of a Colt Trooper with a 4" barrel, I'd like to keep the velocity in the 1,050 fps range. I will also like to load 158 grn with the same powder. What powder should use ? Will lead or copper bullets be a factor ?
My goal is accuracy before power, and efficiency with the 4" barrel.
So far I'm thinkin Blue Dot, but would Unique fit the bill, since I already use it for other loads ?

The load you use will depend on whether you're loading cast or jacketed bullets. I shoot a 180 grain gas checked cast bullet in the .357 Magnum using Win. 296. It's accurate in both my revolvers and my Marlin carbines. I'm loading 13 to 14 grains of Win. 296 and it doesn't seem to matter whether the bullets are cast from Lyman # 2 alloy or linotype.

For jacketed bullets, I would consult one of the manuals for load data.

Hope this helps.

Fred
