1911 100 Year Anniversary Purchase

It is the 100 year anniversary of John Moses Browing's 1911 design.

What is the best 1911 to commemorate the anniversary?

How much money do you have to spend?

For about $1000ish (last I looked) you can get a Dan Wesson or Springfield loaded. Great guns with excellent fit and finish for the price and almost as good as some of the top 1911 makers (Les Baer, Wilson, Ed Brown, Nighthawk etc). Thats about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of those makers but are they 1/2-1/3 the gun? Its the law of diminishing returns really. Do you need or want that last 10%-20% od gun that the 50%-60% price increase gets you?

Just some food for thought.

Now those top makers go from about $1800-$2800 plus. Ive handled a couple of them and they are amazing. Les Baer and Wilson I know of you can get with a 1.5" @ 50 yds accuracy guarantee if thats your thing. Plus they are all doing 100 yr commemorative issues that look awesome.

Search for that thread if you want....Id love to have one but I dont have the $$$$
