1911 .40 Caliber Recommendations

I am in the market for a .40 Caliber handgun but would like it in the 1911 style are there any recommendations I am looking in the $650 - $850 range

While not really in the 1911 design, take a look at the CZ 40 B (a joint venture between Colt and CZ, before Colt backed out, details on the CZForum.com). It has the profile of the 1911, and the CZ75 lockwork. CDNN has them new for under $300, comes with 2 10-round mags, and the CZ75 .40S&W mags will fit and feed perfectly. Can't think of anybody that offers a 1911 in .40S&W right off the top of my head.

Kimber used to make one, IIRC. A shorty model.

Would love to have one, now that I think about it.

Can one use a 10mm 1911, and just replace the magazines and barrel? Dan Wesson has some Pointman 7s and Razorbacks Ive been looking at (probably find one used for the 850 area). A guy at my range is sending his back (slide separated, under warrantee) and wants to know if I want to buy it (Pointman 7, 10mm dies and over 1000 rounds of brass).
