What does straight bored vs angle bored mean?
How much tolerance is needed for the barrel and bushing? If a barrel OD is .5795" can the bushing ID be .580" will heat be a factor?

I know nada about straight vs angled boring. About heat expansion - the bushing will expand some too, .0005" would be enough to allow for that - if particle contamination can be ignored. I don't know that it can be.

In sum, my display of ignorance should generate comments. Comments are good, eh?

If you fit a bushing fairly snugly (1.5 to 2 thous.) to the barrel you will need to relieve the bushing on the top and bottom of the bore so that the barrel can tilt to lock and unlock. If this is not done the barrel will "spring" when going into lockup. The angle bore bushing has that done for you already. Heat is not a factor. Send your carefully taken measurements to EGW and they will send you a bushing that should fit very well. Measure the slide bore and barrel I.D. 4 or 5 times and take an average. I like to allow as close to one thous. inch clearance as I can get but the gun will be very tight for a while. 1.5 thous. is plenty snug. Half a thous. clearance is too tight.
