czkahr, I had a Kydex holster like that and it wanted to mess up the finish on my SS Commander, I never used it again. That's not a high priority?

ohioshooter, there's no pad against the safety, have you ever found it flicked off by rubbibg against anything? :uhoh:

Walkalong, I rarely see anyone carrying in a shoulder rig, is that difficult to use? That actually has some appeal to me, but that means wearing a coat over it, right?

Quack, I like that the best, who made it? It looks tuckable, do you wear it that way?

I really appreciate this thread, thanks bang_bang. One thing one of my instructors said is that he had no use for a snap strap, as the second it takes to unsnap could mean death, he teaches repetitive draw and reholster, and says people get real tired of snapping it pretty quick. I can see that.

Then again, we don't know how long we will have, will the BG give us time to lift our shirts to get at our gun? I assume he has the drop on me, so I'm at a disadvantage right from the start.

I'm just ruminating, I haven't carried a full sized 1911 yet, but I want to. I currently carry a Kel-Tec .380 in a Crossbreed tuckable holster that I honestly forget I'm wearing most of the time. The Crossbreed is kydex but I don't care about the Kel-Tec's finish. I need to get gunned up and appreciate all your ideas gents.

D.M. Bullard "Bodyguard." so named because the body side is raised so no part of the gun touches skin. Although this was made for a Kimber with a 3" barrel, my Rock Island Armory M1911A1 also fits nicely. You will note the extra degree of forward tilt. Helps with both draw and conceal.

Rondog...are you serious? That's hardly concealed!

Of course I'm serious, I carry like that every day and it conceals very well. But I'm a lardass, and never wear a shirt tucked in, haven't for years.

Springfield Champion in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II. Beltman 1-1/4 bullhide belt. Spare horizontal magazine pouch is by Dale Fricke. I wear this about 3:30. Conceals really well and is comfortable enough for all day carry.

I also wear it in a Comp-Tac MTAC about 3:30.

Another rig I use a lot is a Dale Fricke Joab Appendix IWB holster with the same mag pouch. I wear it at about the 12:30 position. Very quick to draw from and is very concealable with any shirt or jacket.

I highly recommend the MS SSII. Anyone with a 1911 should have a good quality leather holster in their drawer of holsters. If you don't like it, you can sell it for almost what you bought it for. They are in stock at Brownell's for the Commander 1911s. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=25825/pid=9922/sku/Commander Good luck. It will not be the last holster you buy, but your first ought to be a quality one. It keeps you from wasting a lot of time and money.:)
