If you want one because you simply want one, go for it. They're handsome guns, feel great in the hand, conceal well. Spotty Internet reputation to be sure. If you want one because you are looking for a CCW, there are less expensive, more reliable options out there. People generally don't buy a Cadilac because they need a car. They buy one because they like the car. Single-stack 9mm.....Sig 239, PPS, Sheild, XDs, HK P7 all would be great reliable choices.
Yes, i agree with you about wanting a cadillac. I have a inexpensive CCW 9mm, its a polymer gun, i have had nothing but bad luck with it. I have sent it back three time already in the last two months, so i do not trust it. One was for a cracked frame, one was a broken ejector, another for the front site falling off. I am not shooting any +P type ammo, just regular store bought, GDHP, WIN, SPEER stuff.

I started a second thread on THR where i am comparing the SA EMP with the SIG P938 and CZ P-01 or PCR.

I am really set on a all metal CCW capability in 9mm. I know "you get what you pay for" but I also expect to "get what i Paid for" so it is interesting to see that all guns have problems. I am hopeing to find that happy medium of price and quality (reliability).

It's a nice pistol but $1,200.00? :what:

Yeah, they were going for $1150ish, which is what I paid. Used market price is around $800-900 (probably less outside of a metropolitan area), which tells you the real value of the gun.

if you're looking for a compact, all metal 9mm, have you considered a Kahr MK9? or a S&W 3913?

I know i do not want a KAHR, but i have not looked at the S&W 3913 and i also saw the COLT Defender series 9mm as a candidate.

thanks,

Hate to "pile on", but I bought an early EMP (s/n 1705). It went back twice and Springfield ultimately replaced it with s/n 2750...which went back twice.

Eventually I had an EMP that worked great, and about five magazines (since they gave me a new one each time it went back).

But it had lost its luster by then, I had (have) a Kimber Ultra Carry that was the same size/weight and shot .45 instead of 9mm. Did I mention that it was/is reliable? Yep, and I still have it... :)

Like others have said, mine has a tight chamber and hits a bit low. Mine is fully stock and shoots well with good ammo. I carry it and use it routinely as a carry gun. It is lighter than my usual P7 PSP so that can be nice after a long day.
