I got a nice bonus for the holidays and am looking to get my first 1911. I have been bouncing back and forth between a SA loaded or trp and a Kimber tle/rl II. I would like to spend around a grand but will add a few hundred if need be. I want something that will be very reliable. I held all of them today at my local shop and still cant make up my mind . Can anyone give me some pros or cons of any of these from personal experiences. Thanks ahead.

If you look around, you should be able to find a slightly used Les Baer or Rock River for not too much over $1000. STI also makes some good guns in that price range as well, if you can tolerate huge logos and semi-race looking guns.

Saying that, a Springfield Loaded should be a fine gun too, although not in the same league as a Les Baer. The Rock River NM Hardball, which can be had new for around $1500, is gauranteed to shoot 3 inch groups or better at 50 yards with 230 gr ball. You aren't going to get that out of an $800 SA.

But, at the same time, think of all the extra ammo you could buy if you bought the Loaded!

Take a good look at and do a search on the Taurus PT1911, It is turning out to be one FINE 1911, comes with many of the most popular improvements, is very accurate and reliable, garners many positive unsolicited testimonials, costs hundreds less than a comparable gun. It is probably the best value in the firearms market today.

While I will not deny that the Taurus is getting rave reviews and could possibly be among the best values in guns, the guy has over $1000 to spend. No matter how strongly you Taurus lovers feel, do you honestly believe the gun is as good as say, a STI Trojan? If so, I find that quite hard to believe.
