Hi folks, I picked up a decent Spanish Mauser this weekend. 1916 short rifle, chambered in 7mm Mauser. It's in decent shape and shoots pretty well, the only problem is that it's missing the top hand guard. I have looked and looked and can't find one at any of the normal places. Numrich, liberty tree collectors, Springfield sporters, etc... Apex has some that I think might work, but they are unfinished without any hardware.

I need the top hand guard and rear band. Anybody have any ideas?

@ Fireman 9731
You are in luck.
I just happen to have a front handguard in Decent refinished condition, It is Not Perfect, but looks very nice,
I also have the front band the end cap the rear band with the side mounted sling swivel, as well as the rear handguard retainer.
I also have various other parts that are around herr somewhere like bolts and things.
P M me if you are interested.

Armoredman is Correct.
The handguard and most of those parts came off the rifle I recently gave to him.
I had restored it and then sporterised it , then rebarreled it..
But I have had at least a half dozen of the Spanish Mausers over the years, and love playing with them.
Well, I did back when they were cheap and available.
But I still have one that is in original 1916 .308 military configuration all restored.
Armoredman wants to get that one from me someday.

Mayge we can get Armoredman to post some pic's of the " Bubba Delux" I gave him ?

This is a fun shooter, and a real pussycat with cast loads. Full power military loads and a steel buttplate equal bent shoulder to this old man, so we keep it low and sweet. ;)

Thank you Armoredman.
Now the world can see how I Bubba a rifle.
This one went thru many changes and ended up as a Safe Queen so I thought It best if I gave it to someone who will use it and not abuse it.
The Handguard I have matches the walnut stock on this rifle.

Bubba is the term we use for a garage gunsmith who wrecks guns - never seen one LAGS has worked on that I would call "wrecked" by any means. :)

I thank you Armoredman.
And you have seen a bunch that I literally pulled out of the garbage heap, and turned into some fine shooters.
But to some,
If it Aint Back in the original Military configuration, no matter how well it is done , it is Bubba'ed.
But I am not going to spend $500.00 on a $100.00 gun , to put it back correctly, thinking that it has some kind of Historic Value.
When in reality, Most Mil Surps were never in battles, and they have no more significance then to remind us of the bad times the world has gone thru.
Or people want guns as a trophy, for a time they never lived in.
Remember the past, and preserve examples that you can find in good condition.
But take the Old beat up ones from the past, and bring them into the present times.
Use yesterdays technology, as the foundation to build on for the future.
