I just got a new M&P shield 9 with no thumb safety.

Carried it all day and I'm very happy, thin and light.

I was carrying a XD9 sub compact and its a great gun
but a bit thick and heavy.

Been waiting for the no safety version and I'm glad I did.

I've carried mine 2.5 years. I carry it pretty much every day. 2500 rounds thru it. Fantastic gun!

I have around 3500 through mine at this time (just finished loading another 200 rounds) it's been great. Accurate, Reliable and easy to conceal it is....it could shed a few ounces but that could cause problems with ease of shooting fast. Most of my shooting takes place in the 15-17 yd range against plates and it's a real shooter.

I wanted a thin , light pocket carry pistol smaller than a Glock 26. I really liked the Sig 938 but it is not available in Cali for mere subjects :fire: so looked at what is available. Not really stoked on new S&W guns but something about the
Shield attracted me.:scrutiny: I don't mind the extra Cali mandated safeties but the trigger seems pretty good for a striker fired gun. Then I read all the positive reviews and it did seem light and thin, especially for a .40 option :) . I have been carrying mine now for a couple months in a motorcycle vest or on a Viridian Belt holster as I equipped it with their tiny light package. I shot 250 rounds thru it so far with NO ISSUES!, 200 of which were 165 grain reloads and 50 of the Winchester Ranger 165 T series that I carry in it. I drifted the sights a little to get dead center at 15 yards and it hold them all nicely centered in a head target at that range which is a real surprise to me.

Tote...

I've toted my new no thumb safety S&W 9mm Shield a few times with few problems. I got a new SERPA Sportster CQC version left hand holster. It handles well but cross draw is a no-go with the longer 8rd magazine.
I use standard drop carry but may try the canted FBI format later. I'm just doing quick trips and errands with the compact 9mm.
I'm using Winchester 124gr FMJ for now but plan to shoot a few 50rd boxes on Monday. Then I will load the Shield with some new Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP +P or maybe a mix of PDX1 124gr +P & the 9mmNATO FMJ.
I might order a new second 7rd stainless steel factory made magazine too.
It's a CCW and BUG pistol but a extra mag wouldn't hurt, ;) .
I checked on new HD night sights. $185.00 USD is a tad high  for a polymer gun that costs $400.00.
I'm not fond of the fiber optic style but I might shop around for another choice.

I put an Apex sear in mine, and it did great things for the trigger. the only thing I'd REALLY like to see is someone making a .357 Sig barrel for it... :)

Have ovwr 1000 rounds (mostly reloads) through mine. Very happy! I put Ameriglo night sights on it. Very reasonable in price.
