Received my Magnetospeed the other day and was only able to get 2 rounds off before a storm. I do realize I need to get many more rounds off to get a better estimate. This is a 270 win, 130g Sierra GK over 58.5gn H-4831-sc My 1st question is: For a hunting load, what would you consider an acceptable standard deviation ? Or do you even look at that?
And next: What software or web site might you use to get long range trajectory ?

I have to say this thing was really simple to set up and use right out of the box. Below is data from the 2 rounds.

Series 1 Shots: 2
Min 2818 Max 2836
Avg 2827 S-D 12.7
ES 18

Series Shot Speed
1 1 2818 ft/s
1 2 2836 ft/s

You really need more shots to get a good calculation of standard deviation but I would be happy with and SD of 12.

That said, it really does not matter what the standard deviation is, the accuracy matters. A low standard deviation does not necessarily translate into great accuracy.

Appreciate the input.

Agreed

This load has proved well so far in my Rem 700. My thoughts were that a low or lower S_D would convert to consistency of placed shots. I could be consistently bad or accurate. Of course I must do my part.
Maybe my thinking is way off ? :banghead:
