Lockheed-Martin is developing an advanced rifle scope for distances ranging from 10 to 2000 feet (3 to 600 meters). L-M won the Dynamic Image Gunsight Optic ("DInGO") to develop the scope for the M16 and M4 rifles. This unit will run on two AA batteries for up to 8 hours continuous, or 7 days of limited use. It will capitalize on recent developments in low-power, large pixel displays. Units should cost less than $600 in volume.

DARPA is also seeking to develop a new scope for snipers called the One Shot Phase 2E. It should be capable for land a first shot hit, in cross-wind conditions, out to the maximum effective range of the weapon.
