I am looking to buy a 20 ga autoloader to shoot sporting clays and skeet. I have a $1000 budget. Please mak suggestions.

Thanks!

You couldn't give me a newly produced Remington auto. (well you could, but I'd trade it for something nicer) :)

Looking at the price of new Remmy auto's, Beretta 3901s or 391s are cheaper. With $1000 to spend, I'd aim higher than the big R.

Yeah, SKB 505 or 585 O/U. Maybe a hair more than a grand. A real favorite in 20.

I wouldn't buy any autoloader for skeet and SC, if I had a grand. Semis are a PITA unless you have servants, and if you really shoot you will reload. You will be glad you have an O/U and you will regret using your grand to get a semiauto. Cleaning is a lot easier with an O/U, retrieving hulls is a LOT easier, it's safer at the range, and you can be ready to go with 2 in the chambers, rather than having one in the chamber then having to quickly load your second shot when it's your turn.

And I'm with kentucky_smith. I have a very old 1100 Magnum that I picked up cheap and works well, but it was never worth a grand and the new ones REALLY aren't. And I don't use the thing much at this point, and when I do, it's for hunting, not the range.

If you MUST get a semi, get the 391 Urika. But don't get a semi.

I bought mine a 391 and see loves it. She doesnt do that lean back and shoot like she did with bigger heavier shotguns. Shes 5'1''

The same could be said for an O/U, which is 3-4" shorter than a receiver gun with the same barrel length, and the 20s aren't heavy unless you get a Ruger (don't).

That 391 is nice in 20, really light, if you want really light for the purpose in question, which most people don't, but it would depend on your size.
