I was at a gunshow today and picked up a Remington 20ga Tactical Shotgun. It had cyclinder bore, 18 barrel, 2 shot mag extension, bead front sight. It was in a Remington box. Is this a new item and does anyone have experience with this gun? It was really light compared to the 12 ga that was set up this way next to it. When I say I picked it up, I don't mean bought it. But it is a really neat little gun, and one that I would like to add to my collection. I use all my guns and thought this would be perfect for home defense and bear protection here in Alaska. I know ammo is limted compared to the 12 ga and I already have a Rem 870 in 12 ga.

I bought the 12 gauge Tactical. Wonderful shotgun...killed lotsa zombies, an' like-mind"less" interlopers. :uhoh: Well, maybe not....not really. But it's at the ready if'in it need-be-used. :) It is a good brand, and a good configuration. I personally would not purchase it in a 20 gauge. I am pleased with my 12 gauge 870 Tactical. The following year, it was made available only in 20 gauge.

Nothing wrong with the 20.

The 870 YE here, now fitted with an adult stock, handles like an M1 carbine. It may be the fastest handling long arm here.

It's been on the market for a couple of years, maybe even longer. It's a 20 gauge version of the home defense Express gun, and is a crackerjack home defense idea IMHO- and would be even better if Remington would offer it with a factory 12- 12.5" LOP stock, or a spacer-adjustable stock (maybe they're doing the latter now?). I'm not sure the magazine extension is a big help- the extra weight forward of the support hand seems to be an issue with some smaller statured shooters.

I'm not so sure I'd look to a 20 gauge as a first choice for big bear defense- I'd be pretty confident with it on most NC blacks if necessary, but a big grizzly, I'd sure want a 12 with hard solid slugs like Brennekes or Dixies... ymmv of course.
