I am looking at the prospect of having a 22-250 built. I like the heavier bullets like the Berger 75 grain target. Berger recommends an 8" twist. My question here is what would I expect to see if I was to fire a smaller bullet like a 55 grain in that fast of a twist barrel.

Other factors are in play also, as the 1in8" twist covers the lower velocity of say, the 223 Rem. The rotational speed of a 22-250 is much higher with it's higher velocity potential, which is more forgiving when talking heavy bullet stability.
Fast twist barrels can run higher pressures than slower twists, with the same load.

My biggest problem so far is finding a rifle with an 8" twist. My plan is to contact a couple gun smiths and get an idea on cost to build one.
