x-post as usual
First things first: I'd been searching for a reasonably priced Ruger 22/45 Lite for a while, finally scored one. Wife is a beginner, taking her slowly, added the TK halo bolt extension. It worked GREAT for her!
Today was second range day with it, first for her. Happily it's something she can operate, learn with, and have fun with. Goal accomplished.
Now: real issues. It apparently has a trigger. Said trigger apparently releases a sear ... someday. Really Ruger? Expect about 14 feet of take up. OK. One can get used to that, not uncommon. Then we get to ... uh, ... shall we call it "engagement?" The trigger is gritty. Lots of movement. You don't have to flinch, it's built in.
Let's be clear. I'm a Ruger fanboy. But I got (a Christmas gift) a 10/22 trigger that made my rifle great. So now it's a trend? eh. I love the pistol. It's accurate. It's fun. But geeezus, it's almost impossible to teach the wife the concept of "surprise break" and it's almost like pushing lumps of cement to launch a round.
-jb, I'll use a back scratcher hook to fire one off
