I own both and I will take the Buck Mark over the Ruger every time. It shoots better than any Ruger I ever fired and it fits my hand better too. After a simple hammer-sear polish I did myself, it rivals the trigger on any S&W 41 I've shot too.

You're missing another solid classic. The S&W 17 or K22. Really the same gun but sold under different numbers. Both K frame 6 shot double/single action classics. If by some chance one in good condition should show up in acceptable condition grab it.
I didn't believe the hype until a buddy let me shoot his a few times. Then when he suggested that I buy it a few months later because he was a stainless gun sort of guy and I liked my blued wheelguns it sure didn't take much in the way of thinking to say yes.
But if it's firmly a case of one or the other of these two then the answer is simple. Buy the first one that shows up used in a condition you like (not "can live with", be patient and get one that makes you seriously smile if this is a long term thing) and then save your pennys for the other one when it shows up. Both are classics and both are superb to shoot. And they are so different that it's not a slight towards one to own the other and put them in the same cabinet.

I have a Ruger Mark 0 & a Buckmark---I like the Buckmark best.
I went shooting with my 2 sons today ( been a long time)
We used a couple Walthers ---a 10/22 & a Colt Ace ( 45ACP with a 22 cal slide-used to train GI's during second world war-an ammo saver) I never realized how accurate that gun is until today. It is heavy but very accurate.
Next trip to the range Mr. Colt will be along........................
Also -- I read so many stories about how 10/22 jamb all the time---we used 4 different ammo today---about 500 rounds--not one problem.---

Ruger MK II (not MK III) or Browning Buckmark will serve you well.
I don't understand why the Ruger auto option is not in the poll, so I didn't vote. If you're thinking Buckmark, you should also consider the MK II. Single Six is a great .22 revolver, but you'll be reloading all day instead of shooting.
