OK, I've got my CCW piece. Now I'm after a deep CCW piece for the boot, shirt sleeve or whatever I can think of. I dislike the smaller centerfire catridges such as .25 ACP, but love the .22 Win. Mag.

I've seen some North American Arms micro-revolvers in .22 Win Mag and like the looks of them, but I haven't shot them. But I'd also be interested in looking at autoloaders if there are any.

How do the NAA's shoot?

I'm open to any and all suggestions. Mouseguns aren't my forte, by a long shot.

Thankee in advance!

Well, they can't be any more inaccurate than a derringer, but that ain't sayin' much. Also the 4 shot .22 mags are difficult to reload. More difficult and longer reload than a derringer. I've heard people complain of the occasional misfire with them as well. I don't know if the hammer on those little things hits the primer hard enough to make it 99.9% reliable.

Nobody makes a .22 mag autoloader anymore. And nobody has EVER made a micro sized .22 mag autoloader. I don't understand it myself. You could put a 3 inch barrel with a ten shot single stack mag in a very small package. Somebody should make one.

I have a NAA .22 Magnum, with 1 5/8" barrel. It holds 5 shots, and is very slow to reload. I had heard the stories of how inaccurate these guns are, and how bad the magnums kick. I was pleasantly surprised. My gun is reasonably accurate, for my purposes anyway, and the recoil doesn't hurt at all. I usually keep mine loaded with shot loads though, and they keep a reasonably tight pattern. During the warmer months, I use it for snakes mainly. During the winter, I use it as a coup de grace for injured animals, since the shot will not cause as much ricochet danger as solid ammo.

If you've got average- pr large-sized hands, it's surprising easy to hurt yourself shooting one of these, because at least part of your hand ends up sticking out past the barrel-cylinder gap (or worse) the end of the barrel. As far as reliability goes, I've never had one fail on me. If you DO go for the NAA mini, the factory grips should probably be replaced with their oversize finger-groove model; they make the revolvers so much easier to hold, shoot accurately, and cock for subsequent shots.

For similar roles to what you describe, I have been well pleased with NAA "convertible" with 1 5/8" tube. NAA web site indicates some pretty spiffy fps with certain CCI ammos.

I'm not sure what NAA is currently supplying, but mine came (many years ago) with a little clip-on leather holster that has served quite well IWB or in top of cowboy boots. Never felt a desire to change from little wood factory grips.

As I've said many times, if you do get one, be sure to read and heed the instructions on "safety notches" between chambers because, at some point, you WILL drop it.

A search here will likely reveal much more about these little guns. :)

I own 3 NAA mini revolvers all in 22 mag. One was purchased as a convertible, but I had NAA fit 22 LR cylinders to the other two. Mine are the Black Widow (2 inch barrel), 1 &1/8 inch barrel, and 1 &5/8 inch barrel versions.

The one I like the best is the Black Widow. If I ever carry one, it would be the 1 & 5/8 inch barrel version.

They are very well made, a ball to shoot, but not easy to shoot well. At 7 feet, it will get the job done.

Its a larger than the NAA mini revolvers but ive been looking at the .22 magnum snubby that taurus is offering. It offers 8 shots of .22 magnum, and Im thinking It might make a decent backup gun. Only thing I dont like about it is there doesnt't seem to be any speed loaders for it.

I have owned quite a few NAA mini revolvers. Presently own three of them, and would highly recommend them. They are very well made, dependable, concealable, and come with a lifetime warranty. I often carry the .22lr, with a 1-1/8" barrel when extreme concealment is necessary. According to the NAA website there is really not much difference in velocity between the .22 LR and the magnum with such a short barrel. If you practice, you can learn to fire five rounds pretty fast from these little guns, and stay on the target at close range.

Good point Mr. G. I've been leaning that direction. My only concern is that .22 LR ammo comes up dud way too often for comfort in a ccw. .22 win mag seems less prone to this.

What brand of .22LR ammo do you use for carry?

My NAA .22 LR mini has been completely reliable with CCI Stinger ammo.

You could keep your I open for a old Hi standard 22 mag DA derringer. There great little pistols and fit most peoples hands well.

As serious "mouse guns" go - get a (1) Beretta 950 Jetfire .25 or (2) a Kel-Tec P-32 .32ACP. Kel-Tec has recently come out with a very small .380, though the "new gun bugs" have yet to be uncovered & worked out.

Everything else in the palm size & under 10 oz. weight range should be considered "novelity" guns.
