Does anybody have any info on this cartridge? What was changed from the original Swift to make it a Pachmayr Swift? Thanks for any input.

never heard of it, but i'm guessing it has a band of rubber near the base to make it easier to hold on to. kind of like belted magnums, except rubberized foamy material instead of brass

my regular 220 swifts have always been slippery little suckers
:)

Don't see itlisted in the current "Cartridges of the World" book so it can't be too wfully big a deal. Nothing using Ask or Google either.

You funny guy Taliv.
Yes, I checked Cartridges of the World and also did a Google for it. I usually do before I waste anybody's time and I guess I should have mentioned that in my original post. I was hoping that some gun crank had some experience or knowledge first hand or even had read about it some where.

Didn't pachmayr have a line of rifles years ago?? I would guess its one of thier rifles in 220 swift?? Not 100% on that though.

I have not heard or read of a Pachmayr Swift in CotW, Donnelly, Nonte, Askins, or the Huntington list of special order RCBS dies.
You might not have a wildcat, it might just be a Swift set up by Pachmayr.
Chamber cast time; or maybe a round of the fast powder-no bullet fireform procedure.

A chamber cast would be easy but I don't have a chamber. I have a set of reamers, roughing and finishing, that I am trying to sell on eBay and was asked the question by a potential bidder. The reamers are clearly labeled
.220 Pachmayr Swift and are by Elliot.

Just guessing: Try the "contact us" at the Pachmayr website to see if anybody there knows any history. :)

I browsed around various combinations on Google and Wikipedia, but had no luck about the original Pachmayr gunsmithing...

if you have a set of reemers you could just measure those and it would tell you what you want to know.

not necessarily, tab, as some of the dimensions aren't controlled by the reamer itself, but by how far your run it into the barrel.

gazz, it's always interesting to run into something like that. having reamers for a cartridge no one has ever heard of before is kind of cool.

if they were ever used you should be able to get that depth as well.
