for $2k+, I'd go for a Steyr Scout in .223, hands down. Thats a bit much for most people.

Otherwise the Savage 10fcm scout is light-weight and uses a detachable box mag. I'd toss the forward scope mount for a traditional one.

I think I'd be happy with any of the Tikkas, Savages, or CZs.

Check out the Savage model 10XP Predator Hunter.
.223 with a 1-9" twist.
I personally have never shot one but I keep drooling over it in the store and that one will hopefully be my next one.
