I am new to the 223 cartridge and hope I might be able to get some of your thoughts on a pet load or two that work for you. I am looking for accuracy and realize I need to experiment with OAL and Powder amounts.......help me get started!!!
I have a custom rifle based on a Remington 700 action with a stainless, 26" Ackley Improved, 1:9 barrel.
I will be loading (using Varget powder) 55 grain Sierra Spritzer boat tail bullets; and 65 grain Sierra Spritzer boat tails.
Thanks in advance for the ideas/suggestions!

When shot in my Howa 1500 Bolt Action rifle 25.0gr Varget under a 55gr bullet produces sub 1/2 MOA groups @100 yards. Lyman 49 lists that load as potentially most accurate and it sure is accurate for me. You might want to start there and see how it works out for you. Don't worry about the charge because it's the starting charge for that bullet/powder combination according to Lyman 49 and it's slightly below the starting charge on the Hodgdon site. No need to lower the charge weight because it is already at the starting charge weight.

Good luck and don't forget the range report.
