.22lr revolver options?

Depends on what you're using it for. If for target shooting, either the Smith K22 or the Colt Officer's Match. If for informal plinking/camping/tackle box use, a Smith Kit revolver or a Ruger Bearcat. For an all around hiking/hunting .22 revolver, it'd be hard to beat a Ruger Super Single Six with the option of shooting .22 Magnum rimfires.

Uses ??

I have several and for target my Dan Wesson beats them all. For plinking , I like the S&W model 17 and 18 as well as my model 63.

A High Standard Sentinel .22 is a reasonable .22 DA at a reasonable price, I have seen em go from 150-300 bucks not a Smithy but reasonable quality.

Definitely search out a good S&W Model 18 Combat Masterpiece .22 LR. I had one for several decades before having to sell it to put groceries in the fridge. That sweet little shooter or a S&W Model 17 will serve you well.

You blokes are so sophisticated. Come over to my side of the tracks. I think my .22 revolliver is the original $2 pistol that generates so much heat on the Fourth of July. If I had my old sense of balance I'd make my way around the chairs and over the stacks of books and get a model number off my old Iver- Johnson 8-shot revolver. Still have the box and a rule book. Some features aren't all that handy, like having to remove the cylinder to eject and relaod. I suppose if that were my toll at the OK Corral, I'd have some extra, loaded cylinders which would probably be as quick as speedloaders. It's fun to shoot; costs less than 50 cents a round if you can believe it. ;-)

Thanks

Thanks again for the informative replies and jealousy-inducing pictures! I would be using it just as a "fun" gun - plinking mostly. Shooting with the wife, friends who aren't terribly comfortable with the idea of guns, getting familiar with a revolver, etc.

The one thing I would warn you about with the single-sixes and other single action .22's is reloading them gets to be a chore after awhile, I prefer a double action with a nice top break as in the H&R or swing out cylinder. Don't overlook taurus, I was in the market for a S&W and didn't find any pre lock ones, and wound up with a taurus 94ul. It's very light, the double action is horrible but the single action isn't bad at all and for the price I can't complain at all. Plus it can serve nice double duty as a hiking/ fishing sidearm for snakes and the like. Plus a .22 snubby is just fun.
