I'm a scrounger, pick up brass everywhere, friends that don't reload give me theirs, etc. Throw it in a bucket as I get it then some cold winter night I sort thru it. Found about 10 hulls last night of, 243 that the neck was stretched to an I.D. of a neck id 312-.315. I'm thinking someone ran a few rounds of. 243 thru their. 308. Am I right?
Guess they were wondering what was wrong with their scope.

That sounds pretty likely. I have an assortment of odd ball stuff over my loading bench. 308's fired in 30-06 chambers, 300 Winchesters fired in 300 Weatherby chambers, stuff like that.

I necked a few 243 win cases up to 7mm-08, just to see if I could use in in a pinch. The outside diameter was too small even for that small step up.
So I ran it back through the 243 die set. The necks split on using in my 243 after 1 firing. Probably not worth your time to fix.
