25-35 Remington?

I might buy a Remington model 8. While looking over the gun, i noticed it is stamped 25-35 Remington on the barrel. I have heard of the Winchester version of this cartridge, but never a Remington one. I have heard of the 25 and the 35 Remington cartridges. Anyone got any info on it?

From what I have READ, Remington marked some of their earlier guns like that to make the comparision with the Winchester lever action rounds. I suspect it just got people confused like the more recent .280 - 7mm Express - .280 ad agency fiasco.

It is really a .25 Remington, just like a ".30-30 Remington" is really a .30 Remington with no interchageability with the rimmed Winchester cartridge.

Fascinating.

Looks like the next move is to see if a .25 Remington round will chamber. If not, you are looking at a rare item that you cannot readily shoot. If it will, you are looking at a scarce item that you can shoot.

I will do a chamber cast to figure out what the exact chamber dimensions are. How much do you think a gun like this is worth? 50% or so, cracked fore end, hardly any bluing left.

prices for 25 Remington (the 25-35 marking was on the earliest guns) are higher than the more standard chamberings (30, 32, and 35 Remington)
By looking at the auction websites, I'd say $500+
The price is crazy, but that's what they are selling for. Realistically one in that described condition should be more like $250 to $300, but the market sets the prices.

100 percent NIB blue book is 650, with a 60 percent gun at 150. Add 15 percent for 25 cal. Kinda crazy how much of a difference there is in blue book and real life prices.

All the guns I've seen so marked chambered the standard .25 Remington Cartridge.
