I have recently aquired a supply of National bullet Co'. .44 cal. 265grain LSWC bullets. Does anyone have loading data on a good .44 magnum load for this bullet? Somewhere in the 1000 f.p.s. range. I just want a good mid powered load so that I can use them up for target practice. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Start at the lower end of the jacketed data and you should be fine.

I cast a 265 grain RNFP and use Speer's data for Win 296, but mine has a gas check and I want it to sting a little.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I am new here. I guess I should have added that I will be shooting these from a 7 1/2 ruger Blackhawk .

I have the newest Hornady book and they do not list a 265G LSWC so I would look through your books and see if you find one. Just be cautious that they are similar enough in profile before you use the data. Keith style bullets will need different data than another style bullet.

I can't remember the name of the book right of but there is a company that publishes small booklets that give tons of data for that particular cartridge. I have found that they are very useful because they will list a bunch of data from powder manufactures as well as bullet manufactures, and even cast data from common bullet molds. There is lots of useful data in those books.

I hope this helps

Lyman #49 lists loads for a 255 which is more closer to a 260 when the bullet lube is added.
Just stay below the MAX data a little and it would work fine.

Was it me, I'd load them with 10.0 grains Unique and call it good.

Thanks for the help. I think I will give the 10.0 gr. of Unique load a try.

Gimme a little while till the rain and lightning stops and I will try and get you some info on it. In the mean time, here are some loads to look over from The Reloaders Reference V-3.

Cross check the info, if you are looking for top ends, but if sticking with the loads using Unique and such for target velocities I have used several and not had any issues.

While some is listed for jacketed, I have used such for cast, and had to add to it a little since there is less resistance with the all lead boolits. Just be sure to watch your crimps to be sure your not getting any slippage. That has been my only issue with the heavier boolits. I had to adjust my crimp die to give me just a tad more to grip the lead over the copper jacket.
