A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

This is the second ammendment word for word yet why do i feel that anything done in the gun control sense is "infringing" on our right to bear arms. I feel that things such as magazine limits and bans on certain types of rifles (assult wepons of course) "infringes" this right of ours. this is just my thoughts when i look at one of our rights that arn't suppose to be taken away.

..................Because it is.
It's said there are 20,000 gun control laws in America on a federal, state and local level. Probably 95% of them probably infringe, in some way, on the second amendment.

Not to be annoyingly picky but I have seen "assault" spelled "assult" several times today. Please don't forget the "a.";)

Why do I fear reactionary legislation from an arbitrary government limiting my freedoms every time panic strikes in this Land of Liberty?

I simply dont understand the thought process of the people who say that the 2a is out of date with reality, that it was designed with muskets in mind, or its only for hunting.
The whole spin on it is driving me nuts and frustrating me to no end.

I dont know what else i can do.
I've written my congressman, offered to give free safety and shooting lessons to anyone that wants to learn, Offered CCDW certification at a discounted rate, etc.

as an aside,
I have a somewhat out of the box view that if they want to take my 2a (or any right for that matter) they need to be prepared to give up the 16a.

I seriously doubt that the founders had abortion in mind, but it seems to have more support now than the 2a? Irregardless of it not being specifically mentioned in the constitution, people act like it's their right to terminate a life, but I don't want to start an abortion debate on a gun forum. I just think there should be some reciprocity between both sides.

I would like to see how many abortions were performed in 2012 vs the number of gun homicides...
