It's a go! Confirmation of the reservation has been received. Keep June 11, 2005 open to compete in the blowgun event of the year. There's even an Olympic Archery range available (pictures posted at:
http://groups.msn.com/BlowgunsNorthwestPlayersGroup/bearswamparcherycomplex.msnw?Page=1)
for Long Distance Flight and Target style shooting.

Registration is required (via e-mail, by May 23, 2005), but is free of any fees. You must sign a liability waiver to participate when you arrive (Minors must have a legal adult guardian present). E-mail address for registration available at: http://www.enter.net/~craftsman/nsba/nsba.htm - select the link for "Sanctioned Competitions".

Sign-in begins at 11:00 AM. Point competition at the Archery Range follows the Opening Ceremonies at Noon. Match competitions (Standard 10 Meter target; Blowgun Field Challenge, OlympicField Long Distance) will follow immediately (approximately 1:00 PM, depending on attendence).

Bear Swamp Archery Complex is located in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp. Northampton County, Pennsylvania, USA. Directions provided with confirmation of registration.

For informtaion about the USA-based National Sport Blowgun Association (NSBA), the International Fukiyado Association (IFA), and other national affiliates (Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Germany, the UK, Sweden, the Philippines, Belgium, France, etc.), rules, regulations, competition styles, history of blowguns and the sport, etc. - please visit the NSBA website at: http://www.enter.net/~craftsman/nsba/nsba.htm

May your darts always fly true!

Those cheap .40 blowguns were great fun in college. We used a small nail for a front sight. Eventually we got tired of blowing the darts into the target with lung power, and fashioned extended .68 tailcones for the .40 darts out of hard paper cotton candy cones and tape. This allowed them to be shot from paintball guns, with enough power to penetrate through a layer of 3/8" sheetrock and 1" into a 2x4. Accuracy was somewhat impaired, but it was an amusing marriage of two fun hobbies.

2005 Sport Blowgun Competition Schedule

If you like it back in college, you'll have a blast (sorry - bad pun!) with it today - try shooting a 4 ft. long .40 or .50 from 10 meters at a bulls-eye just over 2 in. in diameter hung at 5 ft. 3 in. Now do it 29 more times per set.

Want to know where to go to compete in, or just observe a blowgun target shooting competition? Registration via e-mail link.

Keep an eye on http://www.enter.net/~craftsman/nsba/nsba7.htm
for information on NSBA as well as IFA affiliated competitions.

Here's what's coming up so far:
